Now, Aurangabad to get Pharma cluster.

Aurangabad, April 19: After living its footprints in various industrial sectors, Aurangabad is set to add another feather to its cap with a soon-to-arrive pharma cluster. For Marathwada region, which is celebrating 50 years of industrialisation, the announcement of a pharma cluster for Aurangabad could not have come at a more opportune occasion.

As of now, Aurangabad has 66 pharma companies and because of which it has been recognised as a pharma hub. Out of all the pharma companies in the country, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) of America has certified only 21 — five of them are based in Aurangabad. Recently, the Government of India, to boost the pharmaceutical sector, recognised 15 destinations and decided to declare them as pharma clusters. Aurangabad is one of them.

This will see a fund of Rs 50 crore for the development of each clusters, where the pharmas of middle and small scale will be helped to improve the quality of their product and fulfill the quality control parameters. The decision will help small and middle scale pharmas, for whom many a time it is not feasible to buy costly machines to maintain quality of their product.

Aurangabad is indeed one of the biggest pharmaceutical destinations in the country. The pharma cluster announced by the government for Aurangabad will obviously benefit the ones in the business from quality point of view," said Cdr Anil Save, coordinator, pharma cluster.

Volkswagen to invest €100 m in India over 2 years

Quote:
NEW DELHI, SEPT 6:
German automotive giant Volkswagen Group today said it is investing €100 million (over Rs 700 crore) in India at its facilities in Aurangabad and Chakan. The investment will also benefit group companies Audi and Skoda.

Meanwhile, the company has put a separate Rs 2,000 crore investment plan on hold citing indecision on the Maharashtra Government's VAT refund issue.

The investment will be for minor model changes and to upgrade production facilities which will improve output by 10-15 per cent. Volkswagen has a 1.3 lakh annual output at Chakan. It manufactures premium cars at Aurangabad.

PTI reports: “We need investments in improving our facilities, doing minor model changes for our exports and other areas. We are investing about €100 million for the entire group in the next two years in India,” Volkswagen Group Chief Representative, India, John Chacko, told reporters here.

“As a group we had planned to invest Rs 2,000 crore; that is on hold since lots of policy decisions are confusing. We are however still putting pressure on Maharashtra government on various policy issues,” Chacko said.

To woo investors, the state government earlier used to refund VAT paid on all vehicles sold by companies, which have factories in the state.

It was modified last year with the state government saying it would refund VAT only on vehicles sold within the state.

On exports from India, he said VW group is exporting mid-sized sedan Vento to South Africa, Malaysia and West Asia and the export market is still expanding.

Audi has started production of the Q7 luxury-class SUV at its Shendra plant with plans to supply 1,000 units annually in the Indian market, a company official said here Thursday.

This will make Q7 the fourth model to be built in India after Audi A4, A6 and Q5.

Frank Dreves, Audi board member said a good plant infrastructure, efficient working processes, a qualified workforce and a well-developed logistics environment were the factors which motivated Audi Group to expand operations at the Aurangabad plant.

Mid-2013, the company plans to start production of Audi Q3 from the facility, which would be the third Q model to be built locally after Q5 and Q7.

AMC admn vying for inclusion in JNNURM

Aurangabad, Nov 27 Lokmat News Service

■ Fresh proposal will be sent to Union Govt

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is gearing up for its inclusion in the union government's Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). Earlier, the AMC had submitted a Rs 1,500-crore proposal to the union government, five years ago. However, it was turned down as the population of the city, according to the Census 2001, was around 8 lakhs only. The cities with population above 10 lakhs are included in the scheme.

Meanwhile, the population of the city touched 12 lakhs as per the Census 2011. In the meantime, the union government had also revised its policy and made certain relaxations. Hence, a ray of hope emerged for the AMC administration which geared up to submit a fresh proposal with some changes.

District Planning Committee member secretary and collector Kunal Kumar has called a meeting in this regard at the collectorate on November 28 at 11 am. He will brief the government's stand in terms of the JNNURM in the meeting. The meeting will also review works going on in different parts of the district and municipal corporation limits under the Urban Infrastructure and Governance (UIG), Basic Services to the Urban Poor, Backward Regions Grant Fund, Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme and Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns.

The union government's order dated August 28 has also directed the district administration to form a steering committee at each district regarding the JNNURM. It may be noted that the JNNURM intends to provide adequate basic amenities to the urban poor in the rapidly growing and expanding cities. The committee will also be discussing the obstructions and hurdles leading to delay in completion of the projects.

Aurangabad bypass to end traffic woes

Prashant Telwadkar Aurangabad, Dec 12

■ Orders issued for inviting tenders
■ Land acquisition before March 2013
■ Bypass to be constructed by 2016
■ Orders issued for inviting tenders
■ Land acquisition before March 2013
■ Bypass to be constructed by 2016 This 34-kilometre-long bypass will begin from about one and a half kilometres of Zalta phata. It will reach Paithan Road via Gandheli, from behind Sahara City and rear Walmi's mountain. It will meet A S Road via Cidco Mahanagar Road and Verul Road via Vadgaon, Kolhati, Bhangsimata ghat, Maliwada and Kasabkheda.

Even as the proposal for Aurangabad bypass joining the 450-kilometre Solapur-Dhule national highway and providing an alternative to Beed bypass has been pending with the Union Ministry of Road Transport, chairman of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) R P Singh has given directions for land acquisition and tendering work for the four-laning of this road.
Following the directives, NHAI officers have geared up to complete the work within the stipulated time span.

Planned as an alternative to Beed bypass, Aurangabad bypass is to be constructed from behind Satara mountain. With the completion of this 34-kilometre-long bypass, traffic pressure is expected to decrease greatly.
Beed bypass was constructed as an option for Jalna Road, but with the increasing population and development around the mountain of Satara, it has been witnessing a huge traffic.

The Union Ministry has given a nod for the Solapur-Dhule national highway number 211. This highway is going to proceed through Aurangabad. In order to avoid the strain on the city traffic, the NHAI decided to construct Aurangabad bypass.

This 34-kilometre-long bypass will begin from about one and a half kilometres of Zalta phata. It will reach Paithan Road via Gandheli, from behind Sahara City and rear Walmi's mountain. It will meet A S Road from Cidco Mahanagar Road and Verul Road via Vadgaon, Kolhati, Bhangsimata ghat, Maliwada, Kasabkheda.

This road is 25-metre broad and has a divider of 5-metre in between. A service road of 7- metre will be provided from Devlai to Bhangsimata ghat. Two flyovers on Paithan Road and Pune Road and five subways are also to be built.

The entire project is going to cost an estimated Rs 460 crore. After the recent nod by the NAHI chairman, the proposal has been awaiting a green signal from the Ministry for Road Transport. The final permission is expected by January 2013.

In a recent meeting with the NAHI chairman in Nashik, it was decided that Aurangabad bypass work will be carried out on a build-operate and transfer (BOT) basis. He gave orders for the tender process, land acquisition, pipeline, electrification and other works to be completed before March 2013.
It was decided in the meeting that the actual work on the construction of Aurangabad bypass will begin from the new financial year i.e. April 2013.
The NHAI aims at completing the work on Solapur-Dhule national highway by April 2016. It also includes the work on Aurangabad bypass.

The process of inviting tenders for this bypass work is currently going on. Similarly, the proposal for land acquisition has also been sent to the District Collectorate.

About 200 to 250 acres of land is going to be acquired for the work. Only technically perfect tenders will be accepted, the NHAI chairman said, adding that a toll naka would be positioned on Aasegaon-Bhangsimata ghat.
