St. Sebastious Church- Athunkal; Alleppey

One of the most popular Christian shrines, this church also has a strong legend connected with popular Sabarimala Hindu Pilgrimage. As the legends suggest, Ayyappa is one of the strongest friend of Saint Sebastious, who blessed him to serve poor, a legend runs that every Ayyappa devotee must end their pilgrimage at the Church by taking off the sacred Mala worn as token of start of pilgrimage.

The feast of this church is famous as the devotees crawl with knees in procession as a token punishment for the sins they committed.

Its a bit renovated one (only floor and wood) without changing the structure, the structure was build by Portuguese in the 18th century, the dome, the pillars are all the same, one of the oldest churches in Kerala.

It used to be like this before!

The Kilimanoor palace is a glorious monument to the artistic brilliance of one of its illustrious inhabitants – the renowned painter Raja Ravi Varma. The remarkable palace has a colorful history spanning almost three centuries. The government has plans to undertake necessary restoration work and also to start an eco friendly artist’s village around it.

Sakthan Palace- Thrissur

The imperial Palace of H.H Sakthan Thampuran, the most celebrated Kochi Maharaja, located at Thrissur, which was then-the Capital of Kingdom of Kochi. The Palace was highly uniquely as it was one of the first native palace, constructed in unique Kerala-Dutch architecture, which later influenced much of famed Hill Palace- the later Palace of Kochi Kings.The Palace features 4 galleries, a botanical garden, a snake temple and grove.

Kerala Kalamandalam

One of Kerala's historic center of arts, Kerala Kalamandalam was formed in early 20th century to revive Kerala's traditional art forms, particularly Kathakali. The centre is a deemed university with a Gurukula tradition. The Koothambalam or Centre Stage Hall is a classic example of Kerala temple architecture, famed for its extensive pillar work, roofing works, wooden works etc, with regular cultural performances. The centre is located in Cheruthuruthy, on banks of River Nila.
