Why not take a Bullet and go past Rohtang pass all the way to Leh? But it's good to go in a group. I saw several bikers falling sick, we gave lift to one of the bikers in our car. I would say the best part of the journey starts from Rohtang pass.

Half of the pangong lake is in India and the other half is in China. The lake is situated 150 kms from Leh and passes through a very scenic route.

I went to Kedarnath in 2007, I was planning to go to Vasuki Taal but I didn't had enough time. Did you visit Gandhi Sarovar? The surroundings are amazing although there is not much water in the lake. Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed in that lake.

The south eastern part is in China. You shud definitely go on Manali-Leh route. It's an experience of a lifetime. The Manali-Leh route passes through several high altitude passes - Rohtang, Baralacha La, Lachlung La, Nakeela, Tanglang La. Of this Tanglang La is highest at 17582ft, most people experience high altitude sickness here.

Yes the last scene of 3 Idiots were shot at Pangong. The highway forms several loops as it climbs up a mountain at Nakeela Pass (15000ft). It's around 50kms from Sarchu.
