I wasn't expecting anything anytime soon either. It just seems that interest in continued development here in Miami by LVS is still stong, though not as strong with the gaming.

"The company, he said, is still interested in a several-block area in the Park West section of downtown Miami controlled by the Miami World Center group."

Probably this just means that they're willing to wait another year for the casino bill to pass, but I found it encouraging that they didn't just high-tail it out of town right away saying "Take it or leave it!" If they do have something planned comparable to what Genting has planned, imagine what this photo would look like then.

Yeah, but after the "Save Grand Central Park" movement makes some noise.
The old "less green space per resident" silliness will crop up again. etc etc etc.

I'm sure there will be some of that, but hopefully not too much. Man, I've wanted this project BADLY for a long, long time. Would be great to see it become reality.

We need this more than Resorts World Miami.

Relatively accurate. Just as it did for the costal city of Singapore in the last decade; Bringing an international destination/attractor such as gambling at that scale will no doubt bring massive infrastructure investments. Obviously this is not a 1 to 1 scaler comparison, S'Pore and Miami vary greatly in that sense, i.e. the Port industry (as you see in the background) buy they have vary similar climatic traits and i'm not just speaking of the weather!

yep I am a newb!

and Miami needs to turn into a mixture of NY, Singapore, Las Vegas, Dubai.

You have to backtrack the thread a bit.

It would be pretty neat if they'd build that Grand Central-styled station next to the Miami World Center.
Arrivals to Miami would be greeted by one of the most beutiful places of the city.

Do you think in purchasing the old Arena lot that there might be renewed interest in developing Miami World Center as originally planned with more on this lot?

I want to see those lots developed as soon as possible, but I'd rather see it without the gambling.
