It's very good

welcome to SSC.

Infact it should be a hub near future because of its strategic location.

i will elaborate in the next post
Yeah, I think a mono would be the best bet in Ghy given the space constraint. @Sunny, do you know which route is it planned on? Would make more sense if it was on the East-West corridor or basically the Mani Ram Dewan Road from IOC to the Rly Stn. I've heard though that the need now is felt more on the GS Road, given the rapid pace of urbanisation on that stretch. Lets see.
I think we do have a good District Library but yes, a good convention centre is definitely needed.
Primarily, though, the people need to bring about a paradigm shift in their thinking as Ghy is surely falling prey to un-planned urbanisation currently. It can start with better traffic manners(esp when it comes to parking) and definitely, more ownership and accountability when it comes to waste disposal.Maybe fine shops with heaps of garbage in front of them? Similarly with apt societies? I don't know but this def is a serious problem, more so when it pours cats and dogs here!

@sudden

there are lots of things proposed in GMDA mater plan 2025.
and few things are under implementation as proposed.
one being BRTS to come up along G S road.

they have proposed 3 corridors.
1. green corridor ( Narengi to jalukbari)

2. blue corridor( khanapara to paltan bazar)

3. orange corridor(paltan bazar to airport via lokhra)
it will be along new bye pass to airport from NH -37. it will not touch jalukbari

and the stretch between khanapara flyover to jalukabri along NH-37, will be developed into a new and modern city according to the plan.
it will be developed into a modern urban corridor and a commercial cum institutional corridor.

lots of institutes and mega housing complexes are already under construction in this part.

even G+20, 7 towers residential block will also come up in this corridor.(2nd phase of national games village)

the future CBD of guwahati

More like the Rajarhat of Ghy, I guess . These corridors that u speak of, are they transportation corridors? And what mode of transport is considered there? Are these details given in the Master Plan 2025? Also, is this Master Plan listed on the GMDA site? Sorry abt so many queries but my curiosity quotient has just gone up

they are mainly logistics corridors that also serve the purpose of transportation.

monorail is given strong emphasis by Tarun Gogoi, although the transportation authority is more keen on BRTS.

i think both are different projects. and both will be in place in next couple of years.
while BRTS is being funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Monorail will be funded under JNNURM.
for BRTS first instalment has already been released.

5. Ring Road for planning development on outskirts
6. Libraries
7. Good roads/water/electricity

I think Assam govt is working on many of these.
3rd point:

convetion cum exhibition center is already present there. that is maniram dewan trade center between balaji temple and ISBT, guwahati along NH- 37.

but looking at the growth, guwahati is witnessing today, this trade center is
not at all adequate.

Proposed ICC.

Govt. of assam has proposed an International Covention Center near panikhaiti. TATA group has shown interest in setting up this convention center in joint venture with state Govt.

it would be great to see TATA housing building brand guwahati.

Tata housing had signed MoU with Guwahati development autority to develope commercial, residential and retail space in guwhati.

things will be more visible in next couple of years

Well, I have always wanted to see the progress of Sushrita Hillside(should be complted) in Geetanagar and The Riviera project in Kharguli (both Blue River Group projects). Location wise, those can't be beat! All the same, if you have some pics of the construction progress of the upcoming hotels(excluding Marriot and Radisson as they 've already been posted) like the Renaissance Hotel in front of Janata Bhawan or the Roodraksh mall or Star City mAll (lachit nagar), it'd be great

@sudden
tell me the locations of both and i'll try to get it, but kharguli pics are a little harder due to presence of MPs and VIPs.
similarly the same case for hyatt and regency due to proximity to secretariat

4 laning of old airport road is almost complete. Atleast the part from the 3 way point (new airport route) to goalpara is nicely done, barring few small patches. The part from GU till that point is still under construction, as in they've started cutting the trees recently..

Heres the part just after GU

four laning of all major roads from lokhra to guwahati..
if you check out the guwahati real estate cross link , you'll see lokhra is not considered outskirts anymore, but due to the close proximity to hatigaon and beltola, is now considered a future major bypass

Great updates again! Regarding locations, the Star City Mall is located at the Lachit Nagar crossing, just before the Ulubari flyover (on your right if y're coming from Bora Service, behind the Hanuman mandir). The Roodraksh Mall is just next to Big Bazaar at Bhangagarh. The Riviera project is actually on the Kharguli road itself, so should be easily visible but like you said, if there are restrictions, then it could be difficult. Pity as that would ahve been one of thebetter looking projects in Ghy. Similarly with Sushrita Hillside, it's on the 'tila' next to the open schoolfield just before u reach Geetanagar (so technically opposite the Narikal Basti children's park). Anyways, i shouldn't be too greedy as u've done a great job so far. Happy clicking!
