Makampuni ya Oman yatangaza kuwekeza ATCL bilioni 160/=

Quote:

Mambo vipi!

Guys, the other day i had a flight between Dar Es Salaam and Kigoma with your airline and i've recorded some videos.
My thoughts and comments about ATCL will come shortly this week-end with a trip report to be published on the Airliners.net:

Take off from Dar:

Tanzania: TCAA to Digitalise Transmission of Flight Plans

IN a bid to improve provision of information on flights schedules and other related issues at major airports in the country, the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) will soon introduce a new digital method.

The new method will send the information using ATS Message Handling System (AMHS) to cut down on time and human costs that were deployed using analogue system of Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN).

According to TCAA Director General, Mr Fadhili Manongi, the AMHS system will enable stakeholders to easily get information without visiting those centres at airports.

The project, he said, expected to begin before the end of this fiscal year-2012/2013. The AMHS also known as Aeronautical Message Handling System assists in collecting aeronautical ground to ground communications such as the transmission of flight plans or meteorological data.

Mr Manongi was giving a briefing in Dar es Salaam to a delegation from Communications and Transport Committee of the House of Representatives of Zanzibar. The committee paid a one-day visit to TCAA headquarters to learn various issues and exchange views on how to bring about development in aviation industry.

"This sector plays a great role to the country and is very important, facilitating tourism and other sectors that contribute significantly to the economy," said TCAA boss. Mr Manongi said aviation security especially at airports continue to improve through regulation and regular inspections in planes.

The DG noted that authorities responsible for aviation safety have been changing their systems according to changes happening worldwide. Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA), Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) and Abeid Aman Karume International Airport (AAKIA) continue fulfilling requirements for international airports status by receiving international flights.

One of the criteria is the construction of a fence around those airports in order to tighten security. The representatives thanked TCAA management for the good work they have been doing and that they will continue to cooperate for the growth of the aviation industry and the country in general.

The Chairperson of the Communications and Transport Committee of the House of Representatives, Mr Makame Mshimba Mbaruk, said that they will convince the government in the Isles to buy state-of-the-art equipment in order to improve security at airports

Tanzania: Fastjet Passengers' Demand Picks Up

THE number of passengers ferried by the Fastjet Tanzania since it started operations in Tanzania some five months ago, reached 84,716 at the end of February 2013, up from 58,329 registered in the previous month, a sign of the mounting demand for the low cost reliable air carrier.

According to a press statement on Fastjet February statistics, the number of passengers for the month of February was 26,387, compared to 26,414 jetted in January 2013.

"The number of passengers as a percentage of the available seats flown increased to 81 per cent in the month under review compared to only 66 per cent in the preceding period," it was stated in the statement.

Commenting on the February statistics, Fastjet Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ed Winter said; "Fastjet achieved 81 per cent load factor in February which clearly demonstrates continuing high demand for low cost reliable air travel in Africa." In response to this demand, Fastjet is increasing its capacity by 50 per cent and launching two more domestic routes in Tanzania.

From Monday this week, Fastjet started to operate daily flights between Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro and Mwanza. "Fastjet's excellent levels of punctuality and reliability continued through February, with 99.7 per cent of flights arriving within 15 minutes of schedule, an average arrival delay of just 7 minutes, and no cancellations," remarked Mr Winter.

Having established its reputation for total reliability on Tanzanian domestic routes, the company is expecting soon to be looking to offer flights to international destinations such as Johannesburg and Entebbe.

Tanzania-Fastjet: Card payment to boost Fastjet

Credit and debit card payment solution using Visa and MasterCard - FASTJET has introduced its credit and debit card payment solution using Visa and MasterCard and expect to increase sales by 15 per cent, though mostly from overseas bookings.

The airline understands that the credit and debit cards usage is not high in East Africa, with less than 10 per cent of the population in the region having cards, but launched the solution ahead of demand on this market.

FastJet Chief Commercial Officer Mr Richard Bodin said they have partnered with Wirecard AG to use their international footprint to avail the opportunity of transacting globally where card payment solutions prevails.

'We have been inundated with requests from outside Africa for people looking to purchase seats on the FastJet website, andÉ we are now in the position to be able to facilitate these bookings,' Mr Bodin said in a statement yesterday. The deal allows consumers and travel agents from across the globe the ability to access and pay for seats of the rapidly growing airline.

The solution that accepts Visa and MasterCard holders was launched and is available on the airline's website Mr Bodin added: 'This coupled with our hugely popular Mobile Money payment facility really means that our customer base has the full suite of payment processes available to them.'

FastJet expects up to 15 per cent of future bookings to be made using credit and debit cards with Mobile Money payments already accounting for as much as 25 per cent of sales. Wirecard Executive Vice- President Travel and Transportation Jorg Moller said Africa is a very interesting market as 'our strength and competence' in international payment and risk management solutions are especially valuable here.

'Our solutions help airlines to operate their business more efficiently and at low risk,' Moller said. Wirecard AG (until April 2005: InfoGenie AG) is a global financial services and technology company headquartered in Aschheim, Munich, Germany.

Last week the no-frills airline announced its 100,000th passenger since commencing flights from Dar es Salaam late last November and expansion of its frequencies to add two more daily routes from Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro to Mwanza.
