NBC Sports article:
Bills Close in on Extension of Toronto Series Posted by Mike Florio on September 22, 2012, 7:21 AM EDT Reuters The Bills may not have a long-term deal to play in Buffalo, but they soon may have a multi-year arrangement to keep playing games in Toronto. “We’ll be having an announcement on that,” Rogers Communications vice chairman Phil Lind said Friday, via the Associated Press. “It’ll be soon.” Bills CEO Russ Brandon agreed. “We hope to announce a new deal in the near future,” he said. Per the AP, the deal is expected to cover five years, the same length of the expiring arrangement. Despite recent speculation in the Buffalo media that the package could expand the number of regular-season games from five in five years to eight in five years, the AP suggests that the same one-per-year formula will be employed. Preseason games also could be included. Brandon recently has said that the Bills will be playing only one regular-season game per year in Toronto. The price paid by Rogers Communications is expected to be less than the $78 million forked over in the first deal to export Bills games to Canada. Though some may assume that a five-year deal to play in Canada means that the Bills definitely won’t move for at least five years, the agreement likely will have language requiring the Bills to continue the arrangement only if they are headquartered in Buffalo. The powers-that-be face the far bigger challenge of working out a long-term lease that makes it difficult if not impossible to move the team after the passing of founder and owner Ralph Wilson. With the notion that his family will sell the team a foregone conclusion, the fact that a team worth perhaps $800 million in Buffalo would be worth perhaps more than $2 billion in Los Angeles will make it hard to stay put just for the sake of staying put. That’s why perhaps the best solution would be for Wilson to sell the team now to someone who is truly committed to remaining in Buffalo. Unless and until that happens, folks in Western New York have every reason to be nervous about the future — especially with a Band-Aid lease that requires the team to be there for only one more season. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...oronto-series/ |

Thats promising.........
I like the scene when a game is held in Toronto. So many people come from all over to watch it...not just Bills fans but opposing team. Funny story...last year I had a ticket to the game. I couldnt go unfortunately, so I put it up on Craigslist (Redskins vs. Bills) and I posted it at 9pm and sold it within minutes ..only 1 ticket though...... but the demand was high...some Washington fans just came out of the blue for this game.... like the one who bought my ticket... had his luggage lost and still went to the game... other redskins fans crossed dressed... in any case.... NFL is really a big deal and in the last few seasons, like the Tennis tour(s)...i got into NFL a more than I normally would. This season is going to be no exception since NHL is nowhere to be seen.......

Five more years, I hope the team improves - Toronto Star article:
Buffalo Bills, Rogers Centre Reach Deal to Continue Playing One NFL Game Per Season in Toronto Bob Mitchell Sports Reporter Published 1 hours, 27 minutes ago January 29 2013 ...Ticket prices will remain the same as last season when a decision was made in August to sell 60 per cent of the seats for less than $100 and reduce the number of giveaways. Pelley said he was stunned by the interest in last season’s game considering the Bills lack of success heading into the game. “We sold north of 35,000, understanding that the capacity for the way we configure the stadium is just over 45,000,” Pelley said. “It’s all about us delivering world class premium content every year into our stadium. The NFL is that and the Bills are a part of it.” Next season’s opponents for the Bills, date and time won’t be announced until April. Toronto will also host a pre-season game in 2015 under the deal. Financial terms of the pact were not disclosed but it’s expected it will be well below the $78 million the Bills received when the original deal to play at Rogers Centre was announced in 2008, with thoughts back then that it would prove that Toronto is a worthy NFL city. Now, bringing the Buffalo Bills to Toronto for another five years is all about providing “world class premium content” of the NFL for Rogers and its sports properties, Pelley said. For the Bills, it’s all about expanding their brand. According to Russ Brandon, the Bills CEO, fans heading from southern Ontario to the aging Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park have increased from 11 per cent to over 20 per cent in the past five years... I don't think the Bills are happy about having to play in Toronto either. At least the money is going to a good cause: the new stadium in Buffalo.

One of these days I'm going to head down to Buffalo for a wild weekend. I've heard that the folks down there are easy, whoops, I mean really like Torontonians and go all out, to show us a good time. So bring it on Buffalo and show me that tight end.

Are you telling me Hamilton is a fun city? I've never heard anyone refer to it as a party town. As a matter of fact, the few guys I know from there, tell me they want to get out and move to Toronto. I've never seen much of The Hammer, so I don't know much about it. The downtown area looked kinda dead the last time I was there, 5 years ago.
Ah, I'm gay, I don't do sports. (well, unless it's figure skating) |

The people are friendly, down to earth, and unpretentious. It's no bustling metropolis, but does every place need that to be interesting? I hope Hamilton never becomes a Toronto clone. It will have lost its soul if that ever comes to pass. Many gay people don't play sports, but some do. We have 8 teams in our league and only a few strays here and there are straight.
