Yeah, it does look awfully bright. I wonder if the hotel guests and residents will complain.
Edit: Not to mention the KPMG sign.

I've been watching them test the lighting feature and have to say it looks at its best when they don't try anything too complicated. A solid colour that doesn't change looks better than the light show they've been tinkering with.

Here is how the Trump Tower affects the skyline from the aptly named Mount Pleasant Road:

steveve is going full pano mode. but what sucks is i have to crop it, because it looks weird in photoshop auto stitch with the sides sticking out and what not, but i'm working on it. thats why the photo is so skinny, and i have to cut off the sides of the base of the tower.
if anyone has any pano tips for CS, pm me, took a lot of panos for different projects, i'll post them when i process em, image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr

Took these 2 photos today only because i noticed a feature that i hadn't noticed before (or can't remember) going up on the north-west cornerish area, leading up to the dome. (seen on the right in these photos).
It looks like some sorta lighting frame/texture that i think is a real nice touch to a building that already had so much texture in its facade. image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr

Kind of disappointing.. love the height, but the design is very questionable.. also, the glass looks kind of cheap..
Meh, mixed feelings about this one.

Can somebody explain to me as simply as possible what to look for in high quality glass or low quality glass? For example in these pictures what do you look for? I realize sometimes it's obvious if it's good or bad, but I'm not sure in a building like trump.

Not a clue! Looks fine to me. I think people mean seamless curtain wall = good and
fenestration = bad.

The glass looks fine to me. It's that crow's nest thing that bothers me. Some people say it's permanent but I find that hard to believe. I hope it comes down, once this building is finished. I also don't like the grey portion on the roof. I would have much preferred they used the same green glass, to cover the mechanicals. That grey box just throws off the proportions for me. It looks so awkward.

That's the design issue that bothers me too. The rest is fine.

My main problem is the western facade, as pictured on steveve's last photo. Waaaay too much glass, and much of it is mismatched.

Well, there you have it folks; the definitive answer from our glass expert in Germany!
![]() I think what we really need is to see the price tag on the glass for each project, so that we can decide if we like it or not.
