Korean Air W12 Tashkent / Cairo Operation Changes

As per 15JUN12 GDS timetable and inventory display, Korean Air has updated planned operation to Cairo and Tashkent in Winter 2012/13 season, effective 28OCT12.

Details:

Seoul Incheon – Cairo 2 weekly service to be resumed from 24SEP12 as nonstop flight, with A330-200 (Previously reported). From 28OCT12, two weekly nonstop flight to be maintained, but operational aircraft changes to 2-class Boeing 777-200ER

EgyptAir Training gets Trainair Plus approvals

Egyptair Training Centre has successfully completed the Trainair Plus assessment conducted by ICAO and will be certified as a Trainair Plus associate member.

It successfully met the membership requirements following an audit conducted by ICAO at the centre's facilities earlier this month. The audit covered the facility's quality, instructors' qualifications, training materials, teaching methods and the centre's reputation within the international aviation training community.

SWISS in Winter 2012/13 season will continue to operate Zurich – Cairo service four times a week, on board Airbus A340-300 aircraft. The airline is tentatively planning to operate daily flights once again by 31MAR13.

Hmmm....I thought that too. Maybe they will use them to increase frequency on another route such as Tokyo? Who knows? I hope they don't lease out any! I'm surprised they don't need the capacity to London - it's always busy when I've flown that route. I was even hoping on going for a weekend this month or next but the fares are sooo expensive whenever I look.

EGYPTAIR during the month of October and November 2012 is to operate Airbus A330-300 aircraft on Cairo – Johannesburg route. The A330-300 is to operate from 06OCT12 to 20OCT12, and from 28OCT12 to 16NOV12 (JNB departs next day).

From 28OCT12 and onward, the Star Alliance member will only operate 5 weekly service, instead of previously planned daily flight. Above schedule is in effect from 06OCT12 to 20OCT12.

In addition to above I've read that BA are imminently cancelling the daily BMI service from LHR to CAI. And in addition the daily BA flight to Cairo will be down-gauged to an A321 as of Jan 2013.

No, just now it is operated with a 747-400 (one of the shortest 747 routes for BA). Since the revolution it's been a mixture of 747 and 777.

That's a HUGE downgrade. B747/B777 to A321 is it that bad?

I came to Cairo on a BA 747 recently and it was full.

Exactly, I don't recall a single flight I took from London to Cairo that wasn't full. and I don't think it became that bad almost two years later after the revolution.

EgyptAir Africa's First Airline Marks 80 Years

EgyptAir is the first carrier to be established in Africa and the Middle East and the seventh in the world having been set up on May 7, 1932.

And for the first time ever, the award dinner was combined for Travel Agents from Kano, Abuja and Lagos.

General Manager, EgyptAir, Mr. Khaled El Rafie, stated in his opening remarks that EgyptAir had made a lot of progress especially in the last one year, having had to reduce its frequencies out of Lagos from five to two flights weekly in the wake of the civil unrest in Egypt early last year.

He however noted that the airline had steadily recovered from the impact of the uprising and its services have equally grown from two flights to a current five out of Lagos; six out of Abuja and five flights out of Kano
