But I've always disliked the Saints, primarily because we're in the same division and are always vying for the same playoff spot. |

The burgeoning BountyGate scandal involving the New Orleans Saints, head coach Sean Payton and former defensive coordinator Greg Williams is no surprise to former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Brad Culpepper. I got a fascinating look into the mentality and brutality of NFL players during a conversation with Culpepper recently on our radio show. Culpepper, a former Florida Gators defensive tackle, said that when he broke into the league with the Minnesota Vikings in 1992, he and his defensive teammates were instructed by coaches on the most effective way to injure opposing quarterbacks and knock them out of games. “We practiced techniques to injure players,” Culpepper said. “We would dive on a mat and aim for the knee portion of a pad like it was the quarterback, and we would practice going at that and trying to bust the quarterback’s knee. You knock the quarterback out, you win the game.” Culpepper said there was another technique they practiced to try and injure quarterbacks during sacks. “A quarterback … if you pull on their arm and land on their shoulder, you can dislocate (the shoulder) and then they’re out. We used to practice that, too.” He also said that back in the early 1990s – before there was a rule against it – when a quarterback threw an interception, defenders immediately went into kill-the-QB mode. “We practiced on interceptions — we didn’t care where the ball was — we were making a bee-line to wherever the quarterback was. The play could be 60 yards down on the other side (of the field) and we were going to knock the quarterback out of the game by acting like we were blocking him, which was legal at the time.” Culpepper, a 10th-round pick by the Vikings in ‘92, said the mentality of players is to do anything and everything possible to stay in the league. I hope Roger Goodell is ready to pass out pentalites to all 32 NFL teams. It is only fair. |

"The New Orleans Saints weren't the only team to be investigated by the NFL for violations of the league's "bounty rule" in recent years. The Green Bay Packers were investigated in 2007"
"In 2007, Packers players reportedly offered to pay the team's defensive linemen $500 each if they were able to hold Minnesota Vikings tailback Adrian Peterson under 100 rushing yards and the Carolina Panthers under 60 rushing yards as a team." "Reportedly, the league investigated the Packers at the time for violations of both the illegal incentive program and the "bounty rule," which prohibits players from placing a bounty on opponents that could lead to unnecessary violent acts." "Ultimately, the league did not enact any punishments. At the time, league spokesman Greg Aiello said, "The club has handled the matter with the players, and the incentive pool has been discontinued." "However, this 2007 investigation is further evidence that such player-incentive pools are common around the NFL" So Green Bay gets a slap on the wrist 5 years ago. That is fair, LOL. |

Interesting:
"So,Sean Payton gets suspended longer than Michael Vick got for gambling and murdering dogs....longer than Ben Roethlisberger got for multiple rape accusations... longer than Bill Belichek got for actually cheating...longer than Ray Lewis got for being part of a murder committed by his posse... longer than Michael Irvin got for cocaine possession..... longer than Chris Henry got for assaulting a teenager...... longer than Tank Johnson got for his arsenal of guns and assaults........ longer than Plaxico Burress got for illegally discharging a gun in a New York nightclub......... unbelievable!!!" http://www.nola.com/saints/app/42598...r-goodell.html |

http://washington.cbslocal.com/2012/...in-washington/
CBS Washington - Gregg Williams reportedly put a $15,000 bounty on Brad Johnson before a Monday Night Football game when he was the defensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins. Johnson was with the Vikings and had a bad relationship with Dan Snyder. “Gregg came in and dropped $15,000 on the (table) and said, ‘Brad Johnson doesn’t finish this game. This is Wednesday and the money will go up later in the week. It could double or triple by the end of the week,’ “one of the players recalled. “A couple of guys kinda got excited. (Defensive line coach) Greg Blache said, ‘If you get fined, it will be taken care of.’ A second Redskin, who also asked to remain anonymous, corroborated his teammate’s account. Honestly without searching very hard at all I have found illegal bounty systems with the intent to hurt players for pay in the past with: Houston, Green Bay, Minnesota, and Washington. The Saints are not being punished for being dirty. That's not the case. Dirty plays are reviewed every week and the comissoner always fines players large fees. The Saints are hardly ever fined unlike some other NFL teams (Steelers). Every team in the NFL has a a bounty system. The real reason the Saints are being punished is b/c the commissoner told the Saints to stop 2 years ago and the illegal bonus program continued. But of course that doesn't make for great headlines and discussions now does it? . Last edited by papa_spaz; April 8th, 2012 at 09:29 PM. |

Former New York Giant and Washington Redskin Antonio Pierce video reveals what a joke bounty gate is.
I'm still waiting for the NFL to show prove that a player was carted off the field and a Saints player was paid. We still don't have any video evidence. |

c'mon that's a low blow (as a dolphins fan). on a side note, no offense but, i always thought of the jaguars to be so irrelevant, like they don't belong in the NFL. year after year terrible attendance terrible record terrible history. I don't know i just have always felt like they're a 3rd wheel team in Florida, one too many. i honestly don't think i can say that ive ever seen or heard sports center talk about the jaguars. lol sorry jags fans, didn't mean to come off as mean.

-made the playoffs '96-'99 and '03-'05 -played in the AFC Championship '97 and '99 -had an NFL best record of 14-2 in '99 That doesn't exactly sound irrelevant, and if you had watched Sports Center during those years you would have heard them mentioned often. You can't just go by the most recent 5 year period when talking about any teams in any sport. |
