Although Davao has a burgeoning Middle class, most of our middle class people tend to be OK with just Manila as their jump off. If the DOT XI and the different tourism offices in the different LGU's push for increasing the level of awareness of using DVO as a jump off point, siguro, tataas din ang load factor ng mga airlines.
in my past international flights, i always did not pass by manila. sobrang gulo dun. id rather connect using changi. no hasstle.

but when i go to the us, i have no choice but to pass throug manila.

I think this is wrong.

The correct order would be
MNL, CEB, DVO,ZAM, CRK, CGY, ILO.

I'll tell why if you can disprove me.

Interesting observation because PX also have that in mind. And they were not alone. MAS also have the same thing. Even 5J dropped the idea sooner than later.

Is this a culture thing, or a mental attitude?

Cebu Pacific officially has 5 hubs:
1. Manila
2. Cebu
3. Clark
4. Davao
5. Iloilo

Davao (2008) became a hub before Clark (2010) but ever since CEB discontinued int'l flights from Davao, all press releases now follow the order MNL-CEB-CRK-DVO. And now, ILO.

is that the reason why DVO became 4th instead of 3rd? if yes, why DVO didnt become 5th since ILO has now intl flights?

i guess the ranking is not because of the international flights that originate from the hubs. i guess its because of the number of flights, domestic and international, that originate from the hubs. is this right?

5J's flights to and from davao are as follows. manila, cebu, cdo, zamboanga, iloilo kalibo (aug 2), puerto princessa (aug 2).

its not the number of flight per se. its the number of times the flights leave and arrive here in davao on a daily basis.

MNL-DVO-MNL 8x per day
CEB-DVO-CEB 4X per day
CDO-DVO-CDO 4X per week
DVO-ILO-DVO once daily
DVO-ZAM-DVO once daily
DVO-PPS-DVO 4x per week (Aug1)
DVO-KLO-DVO 4x per week (Aug 1)

ano ba sa ILO CRK at CDO?

It is just a matter of press release. I do not think this ranking thing has any merit.

but historically, Clark flights were supposed to commence before Davao. Yun lang nga, hindi pa kasi dumating ang mga eroplano nila so that they can base in Clark. CEB then had their sights in Clark to compete with AirAsia. Hindi naman din kasi kaya ng 5J gawing MNL-CEB-CRK then to an international destination since that flight pattern will disrupt operations.

Davao then had the option of getting a plane from either CEB or Manila to go to an international destination kaya nauna ang Davao.... (from my good pilot friend who used to be the station manager of DVO)

This is self explanatory why it is called a hub. historically for the airline, it was stated in that order i previously mentioned from the era of DC-9. It is immaterial whether it flies domestic or international. What matter is the origin.
