Hmv has closed in the pallasades as has many of the stores listed on the plan, I can only see tesco being the remaining tennant to be honest,
First time Ive took a proper detailed look at the retail layout plans, feeling really happy about how this will turn out, glad to see that the line of shops will be bought forward to be in lime with footlocker and we will be losing the middle section on the right with subway and ditsch in for what looks like "food island units" with seating around. I wonder if JL will take up N33 for outdoor seating for a cafe/food hall? Also worth pointing out that the void left behind the cladding on Stephenson st that was once open behind the army careers office will be converted into a fire escape corridor as I know the question has been asked before Good to see they have also moved the toilets aswel and I wonder if motel one will have an entrance at pallasades level as tw core runs through it? Will be interesting to see how they carry out the work, will they eventually have the whole centre closed off to carry out all the work on what is now still open? Or will they reopen the JL side and close off the other side I wonder |

Station St and Hill St. I have always found the area round there rather tatty and unpleasant, with an ugly and imposing view of New St station and the Hill St entrance to the old car park above the station. Also the poor state of some of the buildings near Station St and Hinckley St. In fact Station St could be quite pleasant with buildings like the Old Rep and the Electric Cinema and Comfort Inn hotel, just a pity about tatty ugly New St Station opposite. Hill St and Station St are certainly roads few people walk down and it is not an area where shoppers usually go. It will be interesting to see how the whole area changes in the period after JL opens, particulalry as there will be exits from New St station into that area. We may see some fashionable shops opening along Station St and it may breath new life into John Bright St which is looking rather sad nowadays. .
