PROJECT DETAILS

Dubai based Wasl Asset Management Group is building a mixed-use development known as District 49 or Al Kifaf. It will be located between the Etisalat building and Zabeel Park in the World Trade Center area of Dubai, UAE. The project involves the construction of 40 to 50-storey office and residential towers, as well as hotels, a shopping centre, food and beverage outlets, theatre and related amenities.

WS Atkins is carrying out master planning services with 3D massing study and will create photo realistic computer generated illustrations for the project.

Klingmann Architects & Brand Consultants will be providing consultancy services while Archgroup Consultants will carry out master planning design with the help of Klingmann.

SCOPE OF WORK

The project is divided into the following districts:

· Commercial/ office district

· Entertainment district

· Loft district

· Residential tower district

· Cultural district

· Park side district

The detailed scope involves the construction of:

· Residential buildings

· Commercial buildings

· Hotels

· Shopping malls

· Theatre

· Food and drink outlets

· Esplanade (120,254 sq m)

Pedestrian zone
Visitors drop off area

TIMELINE

November 2015 – Design works are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2016, after which tenders will be issued for the main construction contract.

June 2015 – The client has re-started the project by appointing the JV of Archgroup Consultant and Klingmann to carry out master plan designs on the scheme.

June 2010 – The project has been put on hold due to the financial crisis.

December 2008 – Wasl Asset Management Group has started working on the initial designs of the project.

July 2008 – Feasibility study for the mixed-use development project is ongoing.
