I guess both L&T, brigade are all shelved projects ..... we need to pin hope only on Cognizant , Infopark -2 and Smart city(though personally dont eep any hope on Tecom)

KOCHI: Kerala-based IT firm Visual IQ has received $12 million in funding from Boston-based Volition Capital and San Francisco-based Fog City Capital.

Visual IQ is headquartered in Boston and has its registered office at Infopark, the IT campus in Kochi. It is a subsidiary of Visual IQ Inc.

Visual IQ produces among the world's most powerful cross-channel marketing intelligence software products.

The Visual IQ-hosted IQ Intelligence Suite reveals cross channel performance insights hidden deep within companies' marketing data and provides actionable recommendations to improve marketing effectiveness.

In a press release, the company said the new funds will be used to fuel the company's product innovation and sales growth.

"Visual IQ's technology is solving a truly daunting problem facing marketers today on how to optimize an increasingly complex multi-channel marketing ecosystem," said Sean Cantwell, partner of Volition Capital, who will join the Visual IQ board.

Visual IQ currently manages over US$ 5 billion in media spending on behalf of its clients, which include two of the top three national advertisers, as well as two of the top three agency holding groups.

Manu Mathew, Visual IQ co-founder and CEO, said the partnership would be critical as they work to maintain their clear market leadership position and aspire to do even greater things in the years to come

Kerala IT exports up by 50 per cent

Kerala’s IT exports grew by nearly 50 per cent in 2011-12, as compared to the previous year. But the Rs 3,618 crore worth software it exported during the fiscal accounted for just one per cent of the national export volume.

The biggest jump came from Kochi Infopark (SEZ) which showed Rs 851 crore-worth exports in 2011-12, nearly Rs 280 crore up from the previous year, mainly due to about 25 new units that set up shop in the government-run park in the last one year.

Infosys, Thiruvananthapuram, has registered over 100 percent export growth – from Rs 200.62 crore in 2010-11 to Rs 425.28 crore in 2011-12 – and remains the single largest exporter from Kerala.

The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Thiruvananthapuram, which has about 200 units under it, showed a slight decline in export volume. From, Rs 2,071 crore in 2010-11, its exports came down to Rs 1,982 crore in 2011-12.

Exports of IBS, Thiruvananthapuram, also functioning under SEZ, showed a marginal decline – from Rs 49.3 crore to Rs.45.08 crore in the corresponding period.

When contacted, Gigo Joseph, CEO, Infopark here, said Kochi was making its mark as a major IT destination and the sharp increase in the export volume was an indication of its growing status.

With the second phase of Infopark on and SmartCity completing its first phase in 18 months, the city is expected to be the leader in the state in IT exports in about 2 years.

Hospitality centre to be set up at Infopark

Infopark, Kochi, will lease out 91 cents of land to private entities to set up facilities in the hospitality sector. The facilities will include high quality hotels, restaurants, food courts, conference room, banquet hall and a library.

A recreation and wellness centre to be set up as part of the new facility will have areas for billiards, bowling alleys, badminton, tennis, gymnasium, swimming pool, beauty parlour and jogging track. There will be cinema halls or multiplexes. The building is envisaged to have landscaped courtyards, sewage treatment facility and car parking. The project is to be developed in the Phase I of Infopark, according to sources.

Infopark has already initiated a process to establish a child day care facility, as part of the strategy to develop a family-friendly environment. The new projects are conceptualised on the basis of studies which have indicated that creation of employee-friendly facilities at the workplace would help improve productivity and reduce absenteeism, apart from contributing to better healthcare.
