Thanks , it was designed by Richard Rogers in 1998 - its 30 floors and comprised of four main blocks, the two tallest of which intersect at the roundabout corner, the other blocks are separated by vertical circulation.

Well thats undecided at the moment, i do intend to sketch over some of the images at some point to give an idea of the look of it, but i want to get the main massing of the city established before I try going into detail, my computer and sketchup just wont be able to handle it if its very detailed

Presumably you're using groups and layers in Sketchup? Just assign a layer to each block/area of the city, turn it off, and you can carry on working on a new area as normal. Only turn them all on at once when you have a scene set up, ready to export/render.

Yeah, hiding the groups certainly does help, but for now I'm still going to stick to the way I'm doing it, I've grown kinda fond of this style, however I may add a few extra details here and there

Hi all ! I'm a newbie on this forum and I create 3D models sometimes, and I'm used to visit threads here so I know most of your jobs and it really impresses me, but here you're providing a very complete part of a city. Excellent job

Just completed a section of Ormrod Park, the city museum is the circular building in the middle, which was built in 1974 and refurbished in 2004. The fragmented building to the east is The Museum of Contemporary Culture (MOCC) which was completed in 2008. To the west side is the reflecting pool, the obelisk is called Ormrod's Needle, Ormrod was a famous mariner, explorer and one of the founders of the city. To the other end of the pool is the Atlalum, a cylindrical monument with a globe in the centre, representing the sea based trade routes that linked the continents. Along each side of the pool are two identical Victorian glass houses, once used to grow rare plants, but now houses a cafe selling organic and locally grown food.

A few more blocks done, The tall-ish curved building is the 26 storey Hilton Central, It was built in 1978 and extensively refurbished and reclad in 2002. The large building with the columns beside the roundabout is Ormrod Hall, Originally the home of the National Institute of Mariners and trade. The church Beside it is St. Christopher's

wonderful work, i love the clean look of the gray buildings, it highlights the shapes of them so much more than in textured cities

...and you even named a church after me!
