Oh I forgot to mention. I went to go eat in the Ritz and the waiter told me that the Courtyard would be just a tad bit taller than the 26 story wing of the Ritz even if being 3 stories short of 26. I have no idea how he had this information but it's a start.

Took a trip to Downtown to see how the Courtyard was looking and it's looking good. Passed by 9th and Olive with a bit of disappointment to not see anything but ah well. Passed Wilshire Grand to still see nothing different.
Courtyard Marriott status as of August 25th, 2012. (Sorry for the horrible quality. Iphone's can only take great photos. They're horrible in the night.) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Downtown was looking alive tonight. So many people walking around, I loved it. Although this also increases the number of drunks. Witnessed two crashes in the downtown area and a ton of couples where one or the other is holding on to the other and talking obviously drunk. Ah well, that's LA!

What is directly in the foreground view of this newscast? A goddamed parking garage!!!!! I mean really fucking really??!! Your background in the second largest television market in the country is a parking garage? What's more is that I've seen other stations background ugly freeways??! Why not shots of Griffith Park or The Getty or the Hollywood sign? Mountains, beaches or just an overview shot of the skyline with freeways and ugly shit cropped out? He's sitting on the wrong side of the skyline even!! The shot that is the least flattering!! LA looks very ugly when your anchor man is sitting in front of towering and empty btw parking garage. Every effort at all times should be made to make the city look attractive. This translates into more tourists, more jobs and a better local economy. LA is a gorgeous city but doesn't look like it when you have pickup trucks and cars with bald tires speeding behind you. I'm not sure if this is simple laziness on the part of the stations or the fact that so many of these people drive constantly just about everywhere that they have no real connection to the city and that in turn colors these decision makers choices from everything from what they find attractive in LA to what they will allow to be shown in the background of a newscast because that's what they feel the average Angeleno can relate to. I've never seen a news broadcast in NYC giving Staten Island or Long Island's LIE a backdrop shot. Or how about the Bronx with a shot of the Bruckner? No. It's always the iconic shots of the city because that city understands the need to constantly market yourself and how that translates into tourist $$$ and jobs. This is completely unacceptable and shameful!!

Just took a quick look at the live camera, certainly looks like construction is fully making its way above ground now. Concrete foundation is disappearing from sight!

Which is basically Avenue of Angels, lol. I can't believe the phase LA is going through right now. I don't care what team we get, but with this stadium, our skyline will virtually transform. This activity will attract other companies and buisnesses to invest in the downtown area which would be the better for everything. Los Angeles is changing, and I can't wait to see all the activity begin.

Some pictures I took of the progress as of today.
![]() ![]() ![]() Nearly the entire lot is up to ground level, with the core climbing higher. |

Just curious, but the final height of this hotel should be comparable to the height of the crane in the pics? Or well, slightly shorter..
