![]() Yes but I don't think that will be the final design. If the old time scedual is still on, they will launch an architectural competition in August which will run until December and the winning proposal will be published in February 2013. |

Not really any news here, but an interview with Director of Board of Carlsberg Byen P/S, Flemming Borreskov, who seems very optimistic and enthusiastic about the future development of the area. He expects it will take 15-20 years, and he is "ready for take off".

A model of the first part of Carlsberg to be built by the Carlsberg S station. The listed part of the Hanging Gardens building at the right.
The model can be seen at the Danish Architectural Center. |

There is an interesting interview with Lars Holten (and Dan Stubbergaard and Mads Bjørn Hansen) in the latest issue of "Arkitekten".
Basically this project, not to my surprise, is losing its virginity. For people interested in the Carlsberg project these articles are must-reads. It is i.e. revealed that Cobe et al. are now leaving their (UCC) project in "Byggeafsnit 8" because of it, after the completion of the new owner structure, has been turned into a "totalenterprise". That likely means completely new architects, and thus designs, as well. Also, further to the completion of the new owner structure, Carlsberg - as in the brewery group - has decided to keep the area of "Byggeafsnit 17", which, as you probably know, includes the new brand experience center, however, and what is the surprise, also the resi/biz projects by HLA, Vandkunsten, Årstiderne and VLA. Those projects Carlsberg Group will develop themselves (or sell off). They are not part of "Carlsberg Byen P/S".

That's the big question these days - in particular in light of what has recently surfaced re ownership details and UCC. However, demolitions should have started by now in the area of the future UCC campus. Otherwise, they will start up in August.Overall, we are still talking 20-25 years with a high margin of uncertainty.

The time saving of course only works in one diection but everything counts. Sometimes they use 2 platforms near football stadiums and such like where one platform is used for alighting and the other side for boarding, doors being opened a few seconds later on the boarding side. In the case of Carlsberg station, I imagine it is because of the large number of studends arriving in the morning which made them choose this solution. You can see 2 examples of double platforms in Copenhagen, one in Ballerup under the office block and here in the photo in Hundige. In Ballerup, I have occasionally seen passengers hopping through a stationary train to get to the other platform (towards Copenhagen) and very occasionally being treated to an involuntary trip in the opposite direction. ![]() Last edited by Never give up; August 4th, 2012 at 06:32 PM. |
