Great photo messi.
Who will be the first to photoghraph the completed stand?
Surely the cladding will be finished in a few more days.
I'm not too keen on this black trim that covers the gaps between the pannels. I hope they can make it look a bit neater. I'd have prefered unbroken gold around the top, myself.

I got a good look at the North Bank Bar/Cafe on Friday from the back of the Megastore. It's very large. It extends all the way behind the WV1 entrance as far as the Megastore and backs on to the concourse, so it's basically as big as they could make it. Big bar at end opposite main entrance. Looks to still be a few weeks from completion. Hopefully will be finished in time for Aldershot.

Totally agree. I have disliked the idea of using all that black trim as a cheap solution for finishing off junctions/edges which have not been considered properly. The small angled exposed steel at the top of the stand that has been clad (the left side) looks like something that had not been thought about at the design stage. Its been clad to match the exposed BW side steel cladding and looks like an awful black stub with lots of odd small angles on its end. It would have been better to visually 'lose' this steel. This could have been easily done by lowering the gold cladding along the whole stand (to cover the horizontal beams). That in turn (if low enough) would have brought the line of the return angle gold cladding down to cover the main beam. Then the verticals should have been in the same colour so in effect creating one continuous top section of gold cladding. The only part that I do like is the top black horizontal band although I don't know why they made in such small pieces because in certain light they really stand out.

As for the black cladding on the inside on the stadium roof, I have already stated my dislike of it numerous times. The whole concept of the masts and support rods I would have thought was to enable the roof to look lightweight and slim. It doesn't and it will grate on me for years.

Apart from that I generally like the stand but I hope that they do something visually interesting with the stairs through the glass.

I think the black cladding is a nice way to finish off the stand. I think it adds a sharpness and definition to it. It's also in club colours which is nice.

Alright guys, back from Spain! Hope I didn't miss too much!

Had a quick look through the photos; looking seriously good, although I think I share BT's opinion about the strips of vertical black cladding. Sent t'mother to queue for my free ticket for the Barnsley game, so she might be in Messi's photo

The black strip on the angle isn't long enough and doesn't reach the top ! would be better all gold (with no black strips) or possibly make that angles return section all black to loose that funny gold shape.

Grabbed some photos today, although not a lot is different from Messi's image. Also, a couple of photos from Nou Camp that made me laugh.

Nou Camp;

South Bankers couldn't sit in these seats...

This is the view in a seated position in quite a number of seats at the back of the 2nd tier:

In that same seat, you're also at risk of serious injury when jumping up for a goal (not that you'd know when one was scored):

Then to top it off, when you try to leave, you have to bend right down just to get under the bloody thing!

On a more serious note about the Nou Camp; when you go to a stadium like that, I know it's old, but it make you realise just how good the new North Bank really is, in terms of quality. Some parts of it really didn't seem up to the task at all, even though that fact that the stadium remains standing is in direct contrast to this. For example, I would not feel comfortable at all being sat in the back 20 or so rows of the lowest tier just because of the way the huge overhang of the 2nd tier looks so massively undersupported. There is honestly more support for our little 6 row overhang in the North Bank than there is for what must be 20+ rows at Nou Camp. It must be alright, but it really really did not look it

Awesome, to be honest, cheers! The only thing that would have made it better would have been a 5-10c degree drop in temperature

I went today to get some pics, not sure about it to be honest, they seem to have used plastic for every part of it.

These are fantastic - brings back some memories of the old ground - I never saw the SB going up - didnt realise how 'solid' the bottom half is, which explains why it went up so quick

Cheers Simon
