Mangalore-Bangalore train services likely to resume from Sunday
TNN | Jul 28, 2012

Quote:
MANGALORE: Train service between Mangalore-Bangalore did not resume on Saturday as the Shiradi Ghat section witnessed multiple landslips on railway tracks near Yedakumeri Station on Friday night and Saturday morning.

Palghat railway officials said that unless the South Western Railway gives them the go ahead they will not be in a position to start services. Probably we will get the intimation by Sunday noon after alignment checks,'' the official added.
Railway sources in Sakleshpur said that the whole engineering section was at it since Saturday morning and the excavators had been deployed to remove the earth on tracks. Most probably the work will be completed by 8 pm,'' the official said.

Sakleshpur on Saturday did not witness any heavy rains. There has been a steady drizzle and that has helped clearing operations,'' the official said adding that engineers on trolley and brake vans were looking at sections which were vulnerable. We cannot do anything even a section is vulnerable. The trains when passing those points would be told to be extra careful and go at slow speeds,'' the official added.

The landslips occurred at 51 kilometer, 63 km and 64 km from Hassan Railway station.

Railway sources said though the track is cleared of debris by 8 pm, train services can resume only after the civil engineering section checks the alignment and certifies the track fit for rail operations.

There was no problem for traffic on National Highway 48 with debris cleared by NH officials on Friday night. Uppinangady police officials said that with rains abating, the situation was normal and the waters had also receded.

On Friday, Hosamatha Bridge and road at Udane on NH was under water for some time after a dam in Kempu Holey area let out excess water due to continuous rainfall, flooding the road and low lying areas. Incidentally, Uppinangady received 190 mm of rainfall for the 24 hours till Saturday 8.30 am.

Railway hospital to get new OPD Block
General Manager of South Western Railway Ashok Kumar Mital has said that a new Out-Patient Department (OPD) block and an additional operation theatre would soon be set up at the Central Railway Hospital in Hubli.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Golden Jubilee Railway Hospital Day celebrations in Hubli on Sunday.

Mr. Mital also said that the SWR had plans to computerise all the transactions in the hospital and also add other facilities and for the purpose clearance and funds from the Railway Board had been sought.

He said that after gaining the status of Headquarters’ Hospital with the formation of the South Western Railway, the Central Railway Hospital was able to improve its services.

Mr. Mital admitted that earlier he didn’t have faith in the results given by the medical laboratories of the railway hospitals.

Looking great.. When Mangalore central will see this kind of development? God only knows.. Palght division is only interested in Revenues from mangalore.. They are worse than British.. The whole existnace of this Plaghat division depends on Mangalore .. If tomorrow Mangalore is out of Palghat division that will be end of it.. Still Mangalore central station looks like 18th century building.. no modern amenitues.. ages back Mangalore was considered for world class station upgrade.. May be that also we be shifted to Kannur or Shornur

the railway budget of 2012-2013 proposes survey for the following railway lines
1. Shimoga-shikaripur-ranebennur
2. Haveri-Hangal-Sirsi

Both are wastage of public money.. When Talaguppa-Honnavar and Hubli-Ankola are failing to see the light of the day.. even doing a survey for Haveri-Sirsi railway line is waste of time as it will face the same hurdles. And unless this railway line is extended to Kumta it will be another white elephant.. along with Shimoga-Talaguppa ..Railway ministry is really gone mad..This survey will never happen.. as MOEF will deny permission.. Even I am reading that permssion for Padubidri-Subrahmanya Road railway line survey was denied by MOEF..

When Shimoga-Harihar is being planned I really do not see any sense in surveying for Shimoga-Shikaripur-Ranebennur(I know even if this line to be implemented it will take minimum 100 years looking at the way other projects are going, and also how far is harihar from Ranebennur? the only advantage is Shikaripur will come on railway map.. for Yeddy's sake).. For me this line makes much sense .. Shimoga-Sagara-Soraba-Haveri.. If talaguppa-Honnavar is implmented this line can really prove a very good line.. as Mangalore-Hubli train can run on this railway line..so is Mysore-Hubli train) Also we can have trainis between Shimoga and Bijapur (with Gadag-haveri railway line in place)

This is just a dream.. Need a debate on this forum regarding this..f you feel worth

MPs to protest against Rlys

Quote:
Unhappy with the railways for ignoring North Karnataka, the MPs of North Karnataka region have decided to stage a dharna in front of office of the South Western Railway general manager in Hubli on Tuesday (July 31). Dharwad MP Prahlad Joshi said MPs Suresh Angadi (Belgaum), Basavaraj (Tumkur), Siddeshwar (Davanagere), Janardhan Swamy (Chitradurga), Shivakumar Udasi (Haveri), Ramesh Katti (Chikkodi), P S Gaddigoudar (Bagalkot) and Ramesh Jogajinagi along with others will participate in the dharna.

It may be recalled here that Prahlad Joshi has been pressing the railway authorities to run the Yeswantpur-Nizamuddin Samparka Kranti Express train via Tumlur-Davanagere- Hubli-Dharwad- Belgaum on all the days of the week but the demand has not been heeded to. The train runs on this route only twice a week while on other days it runs through Andhra Pradesh.

The purpose of the train is to connect the state capitals to national capitals and enabling the people of the state to reach New Delhi. However, the Yeswantpur-Nizamuddin Samparka Kranti Express serves the interest of Andhra people more than those in Karnataka. The Railway authorities point out that changing the route will evoke protest from the people of Andhra Pradesh.

MP Prahlad Joshi has pointed out that there are several other trains connecting Hyderabad and other places of Andhra Pradesh to New Delhi.

Joshi said he would also take up the issue of development works carried out in Dharwad Railway station not being people-friendly.

Let them run two Sampark Kranthi from Bangalore

Good that MP's are coming together and demanding this

As such YPR - Tumkur -Hubli - Pune -Delhi Sampark Kranti runs at : 12:50 Hrs twice week, so they can make this daily and keep the 5 days other Train YPR - Guntakal -Sec - Delhi as it is whch runs at 22:15.

So in effect demands of Karnataka people will be satisfied. As such in th 12:50 timings no trains runs from Yesvantpur towards Hubli side in all days. As doubling is ahppening, so their should not be issue making this daily via Hubli.
