Hopefully they're primarily targeting wealthy Asian investors.

^ who else would they target?
I'm actually surprised how strongly The William is being marketed in Melbourne. I think most local's prefer to live 'off the grid' leaving the actual CBD mainly for student accomdation and the like. |

So you're saying that a wealthy local with all the choices in the world would choose to live in the failed Docklands rather than the "real city"? I know which one i'd prefer.

But he mention off the grid which is Docklands. Nothing wrong with inner suburban Melbourne apartment living or even terrace housing but give me the big city feel anyday.

well now that you mention it CJudd... I can think of a lot more high end resident friendly apartment buildings in Docklands and Southbank than the CBD.
and I've been into more Docklands and Southbank apartments than CBD ones by virtue of having friends/family living there and not the CBD. Abode318 by Schiavello (Pearl developers) is the only CBD development that is really that 'cut above' and resident friendly ala Pearl in Southbank or Yarra Point or Convesso in Docklands (or FWP/Eureka/any of New Quay, Yarras Edge in Docklands) the only really liveable CBD apartments are the original conversions like Hero apartments which are very tightly held nowadays and rarely on the market. even the lower end stuff in Docklands like Mariner and Serrata was advertised as owner-occupier friendly. |

According to Callum Fraser the rationale for Elenberg Fraser's undulating facades is to create pockets of air pressure when the wind blows which cross-ventilate the building, as air flows through to the corresponding low-pressure points on the other side.

That is a skyline altering building. This photo reminds me of those aerial shots of glistening Chicago towers at the beginning of Source Code.
Seriously excited by this one now in light of Grollo's update.

If the finishings on this are good, this will be an awesome awesome building.
The question will be how it will sell given it's sans-balconies. |
