Kakaunti nalang old houses sa Malolos, you can't see an entire stretch of street in Malolos line with century old houses, there are some but scattered" its a huge commercial city, Unlike Vigan and Taal you can see a uniform style of Architecture, and an Intact block of 19th century houses.

Its good that Malolos will preserve their remaining landmarks but its not comparable to other well cared old towns.

I think ang pageant naman na iyan ay may cause. At nasa kultura na ng mga Pilipino ang pagkamahilig sa mga beauty pageants


Since the candidates represent their respective LGUs, I think it is a way narin to promote tourism in their place

Vigan offers free finishing course for call center agents

VIGAN CITY, July 20 (PIA) -- The local government of Vigan, in cooperation with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) and the Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), is conducting a free finishing course for call center agents.

CCAP Manila-based trainors Deulah Bolante, Rein Ferrer and Mikee Terrado said 60 residents of Vigan City, who are at least high school graduates, are undergoing the first wave training from July 4 to 20.

The training is held at the Vigan Skills Training Institute (VSTI) from Mondays through Fridays at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The training course consists of lecture and laboratory on grammar, pronunciation, intonation, typing, call simulation, and American Culture.

This program, which is being implemented nationwide through the Tesda scholarship, is in response to the increasing demand for call center agents.

It is hoped that through this training Filipino workers would have better chances of employment.

The trainors are all praises for the trainees who are performing well and upon completion will receive a certificate and endorsement to a call center company either in Baguio City, Clark in Pampanga or in Manila.

Areas of work for call center agents include customer service, sales, technical support, queries, complaints and billing.

Mayor Eva Marie Medina said for succeeding classes, Metro Vigan residents are eligible for training.

Those interested are advised to visit the VSTI office during office days, Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The second wave will be on July 23 to August 8; third wave on August 13 to 29 and the last wave on September 3-19.

CABUGAO, Ilocos Sur, Aug 2 (PIA) -- The municipal government named 4,194 farmers of this municipality as recipients of oil subsidy in June this year to help them get through the planting season.

Zenaida Soller-Andrada, municipal agriculture technician, said rice production is one of the major programs of the municipal government and the subsidy is one way to cushion the impact of soaring agricultural expenses.

The farmers received P175 each on June 14 this year.

She said they need oil for their farm machinery such as "kuliglig" which they use to plant rice.

Farmers welcomed the projects that directly help them, particularly during the start of the planting season in June when families are also burdened by school expenses.

To help the farmers further, including off-season vegetable farmers, the local government provided fertilizer subsidy.

Today, about 200 farmers have received their fertilizer subsidies together with the schools of the town’s 31 barangays.

School gardening is strictly implemented in all the schools of the town to promote proper nutrition among the kids.

As children learn to plant and harvest vegetables, they also learn nutritional facts about them, and eventually eat them. This project is monitored by Barangay Nutrition Scholar Jonah Sevilleja who is also the 4H-Club coordinator. (ANL/ICR-PIA 1, Ilocos Sur)
