And to say that it was the project I looked forward to the most...at the end of the day, I have a feeling we're all going to be disappointed...

It has already had one redesign as it is.
The overlapping cladding was changed to the more conforming style. And they are saying that the architect is working on the cladding again.. So I don't expect the tower will look that different, perhaps only slightly.. but I think the cladding will be less fancy again... You can't say in one sentence, "we want it to be more iconic than the shard" .. and at the same time turn this building into a box shape as someone posted on the last page. Not going to happen... city planners wouldn't allow that for starters. I remain very optimistic about this. If they can shave some costs by simplifying the cladding some more in order for it to be built, then that is great news.

I don't like the idea of 'simplifying' the cladding. By the sounds of it, 'simplifying' means 'making cheaper', and having a taller poor quality skyscraper (to me) is worse that having a still very tall good quality one. But then again, can they really expect a height increase seeming as it was reduced beforehand? Im guessing not.

Does London have restrictions like NY, which limit the amount of square meters for each plot of land?

I like this one. I just don't think that much of pyramide shapes or curvey odd figurative stuff will add up to the skyline.
Like this one, am not sure about your taste, but I like this one.

I'm getting extremely frustrated with this building! Every week I keep checking for news, any progress re tenants being found! But nothing!!
If I had serious money I would build this tower In a heartbeat! fingers crossed that they don't build a awful tower for half the cost and ruin the skyline of the best city in the world! Fact!!
