Christ, that's ugly. Brickwork looks a lot darker than in the renders - black versus grey. Good to see some development happening, and I hope it does well for Sunniside, but hell, it's ugly.

Isnt it just! But at the end of the day it should get people into the area and to use the facilities.

The brickwork is very similar to the Bowling alley next door, shame they didnt incorperate more colour into the scheme apart from the very random yellow rendering on the rear.

Would be good to see a pizza express or other similar chain open in one of the units downstairs.

Aye it's not the best, --but still it's an improvement to what was there, ---and lets hope they have people interested in the ground floor units.

That's the http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...1&postcount=27 Liverpool House refurb. I was involved with a decent project for both this and the one next door but it fell through in 2008 due to the recession. Looks like it's been split and sold on as seperate plots now.

Yes, it is being covered on the "City Centre RESIDENTIAL Developments" thread.

Interesting, --and it's possible they could demolish it, ---think the Council also bought the building a bit further down --the last building before the roundabout --it was the very first Binns, --and they want to demolish this too.

Knocking down derelict buildings can only be a positive if they want to attract developers. Nobody wants to build next door to a derelict building because you never know what is going to happen - arson, squatters etc. and a derelict building wont exactly be a positive if a company is trying to impress clients/customers.

It's a shame, i like to see old buildings get renovated, updated and brought back to life, I hope the new and older travelodges aren't affected by the Travelodge restructuring, as they have had to sell some of their hotels.

Regarding some of the older buildings, --think it's great when they can be saved and brought back to their former glory, --but some times this just can't be done mores the pity, ----as for Travelodge, --your right, --I read somewhere that they were in a lot of debt, --and would be looking to sell about forty odd Hotels.

Travelodge inherited a lot of their debt from the previous owners. I hope they keep going as it would leave a serious gap in the hotel market. A lot of people may turn their noses up at Travelodge but I quite like them, especially when I'm only paying £9 per night.

I'm with you on this mate, ---we have been to the Travelodge near Edinburgh a few years ago, --they had a deal on at the time, --and we only payed £10 per night, --and it was clean --big room and bed, shower, --done us fine.
