Col du Galibier

From col du Lautaret, a road goes up to Col du Galibier. It is a particularly challenging pass because of an unusual amount of non-extreme curves. It doesn't have the many switchbacks of other passes.

i.

ii.

iii. Cyclists everywhere. Sometimes they driver dangerously, usually not - opposite from motorbike riders.

iv. A monument to one of their famous (I don't know who the guy is, must be famous to earn a monument :p)

v. Dilapidated house. They should either restore or demolish the thing.

vi.

vii.

viii. I tried to wait for a clean shot, but it was impossible. Too many cyclists taking their pics there.

ix. Descending after the summit. There is a small tunnel shortcut 150m lower than the summit

x. Bonus pic: a lower pass on my way to A43

Col d'Iseran

Col d'Iseran is the highest Alpine road pass that matches the following criteria: paved, open to regular road vehicles, and a through-route (e.g., a route connecting two otherwise isolated watersheds).

i. a disused dam near Modane, the start of a long and pretty valley road

ii. the valley road is wide-ish for French standards. No ski stations nearby though.

iii. A quaint, old stone-building city of Bonneval-sur-Arc, the last place where you can go year-round

iv. Bonus: fancy high-6-digit-worth car parked in Bonneval-sur-Arc

v. Parts of the road lack signaling completely

vi.

vii.

viii. Bad-ass motorcycles as always

ix.

A Lotus Elise. The electrical version sells for € 108.000 in the Netherlands. The non-electrical version costs € 57.000.

I think they should create some "official sticker board" near the passes, a big one, then let people glue their sticker there, instead of vandalizing the road signs.
