Israel needs to recruit better quality American Jews for Rio 2016, not like that dud pole vaulter who didn't even qualify for the final.

2 golds and a bronze for Aly Raisman

2 golds and a silver for Rebecca Soni

Im telling you, the Olympics got more competitive...
The Chinese are insane! they are winning in every category. And there is no shortage of players..... its not like in Israel some go to be sports and some go to the arts or education..in Chinese its regulated....so they are subsidized by the Communist Regime to give a good face to their cause and powa' nation!

Pretty much. The "Olympic spirit" envisaged by Pierre de coubertin has pretty much evaporated in recent decades. Since the decline of modern warfare between states, the Olympics has managed to fill a void for the jingoistic types... minus the whole death, blood and misery parts.

Britain won 1 gold medal in Atlanta 1996 which was seen as a national disgrace... then they pumped the money in big time, increased funding for sports science, grabbed the best coaches from around the world, budgets across the sector were boosted, and now sit third on the medal tally 16 years later. That's what the Olympics has became sadly.

Aly Raisman dedicated her floor routine to the victims of Munich. Well done Aly!
Quote:

American gymnast Aly Raisman has revealed the music for her gold medal-winning floor routine at the London Olympics was a tribute to the victims of the 1972 Munich Games terror attack.

The 18-year-old said choosing Hava Nagila- a traditional score used for wedding dances and bat mitzvah - was a response to the International Olympic Committee's failure to mark the 40th anniversary of the tragedy.

And for Aly, from Needham, Massachusetts, she said it made her gold even more special.

'I can only imagine how painful it must be for the families and close personal friends of the victims,' she said.
Up yours Rogue!

A campaign was launched by Israeli officials and the widow of one of the victims for a minute's silence during the opening ceremony but IOC president Jacques Rogge ruled that out.

Another gold for Jewish medal tally.

New Zealander Jo Aleh, daughter of Israeli father, win Olympic gold in Sailing.

If all Jews from all the world representing Israel in Olympic, we would have like over ten medals!
