nice pictures - that's Keshav Nagar if I remember correct. Is that the east or west side, and looking south towards Ahmedabad or North to Gandhinagar? I think it's south because I don't see Sabarmati power station in the picture.

The picture has been taken from Subhash Bridge. You can see Vadaj-Dudeshwar Bridge also in the pic. I am hopeful that this area would get finished within next 2-3 months.

Cleanliness is enforced by people, government, muncipalities and city council. Gods have nothing to do with this mess. People created this mess.

Thanks Reshapco.

I wonder if that's water pumped to the river next to that water tank?

10 years back nobody would want to visit that part of river; and 10 years from now garbage will be gone as this will be the Hudson or Thames of Ahmedabad.

I dont think our cities n rivers will be garbage free in 10yrs...or even 20yrs...
ppl are not willing to change even a bit... and blaming authorities n politicians will always be the easy way out ...

You know most of the rubbish is flowers right and together with that people also throw the paper/plastic that they brought the flowers in. I dont mind flowers going into the river as they are bio degradable but I am only concerned about the plastics and looking at the picture the amount has significantly come down from what it was before. If you think about how much rubbish slums would have had generated in the past along the banks of the river then this would be nothing in comparision. But again I am not defending the attitude of people throwing rubbish into the water bodies, this can be avoided like how AMC did at Kankaria. People just need some understanding of the water bodies and some education (with some fines ). The number will fall significantly in the coming years. Watch this space!

Something like this

Quote:
some citizens discard the roses on their own. Here, a woman and her daughter end the journey of the roses immersing them in the Sabarmati river.
In this case its roses but that is not always the case!

I'm not saying there is'nt room for improvement, but having seen the river throughout the last 2 decades, I can say it has undergone a massive, massive change (and for the better!)

haha image from 10 years ago is like a very typical Indian river I wish they made similar improvement across whole North India. But I dont think its possible even if government was willing. Like how would UP government make a river front and stop those millions religious ppl from taking dubki and snan in it every day?

What can the river purify when the river itself is so dirty? lol and above all they even take oil/shampoo/soap/conditioner with them.
