Wtf? As in the bridges that they just finished?!

Apart from this being absolutely useless (not a single intersection on the new North Road needs expansion, its D Ring road that needs to be remodelled!), Ashghal need to learn how to prioritize. If they keep planning this badly in the run up to the World Cup, then God help us all.

Work seems to have started on the Lusail Expressway. There are diversion signs and soil testing is taking place.

I don't know if this has been posted before, a new (central?) bus station I'm guessing on Salwa Road.

Habtoor Leighton to build Qatar’s first rail link

http://www.arabianbusiness.com/habto...nk-468336.html

Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has won a US$124m deal from the Qatar Foundation (QF) to help build a people mover system in Education City.

The network, which consists of a battery-powered tram linking various sections of the Doha complex, will be Qatar’s first fully operational rail transport system.

HLG’s scope of work includes design and construction of track-work, plus tram stops, and a depot facility.

The firm bid for the project as part of a consortium led by Siemens.

Work on the tram will commence immediately, and is expected to be completed by 2015

CEO Laurie Voyer expressed hope that this contract win could lead to further, more lucrative deals for the company as Doha begins to put its US$35bn rail plans into motion.

“By successfully delivering this project, we will place ourselves in an ideal position to secure additional work as part of the Doha Metro,” he said.

“We have been operating in Qatar for more than six years, employ over 6,000 people across the country and have completed a range of large-scale infrastructure and building projects for both the private and public sector.”

HLG, a joint venture between Dubai’s Al Habtoor Group and Australian contracting giant Leighton Holdings, has been attempting to diversify its revenue streams away from its core UAE market in the wake of a major slowdown in local construction.

This year, outside the UAE, HLG has won a US$169m mine-related infrastructure deal in Saudi Arabia, as well as a US$153m contract to help redevelop Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz Airport.

You can see the work on F Ring Road on Google Earth, they've updated South Doha recently.

Yeah I've noticed, but I was hoping for actual construction site images... But I guess it's really hard to get there...

I drove through it twice and I personally had no problems what so ever.. The problem I see with other people is that they are used to a certain format (old giant r/a with traffic lights that arent working) and to their surprise all of a sudden they are in a traffic signal that isn't their regular intersection and they assume that its a SQUARE R/A !

For example, people that want to go left all of a sudden figure out that they are in a wrong lane, they go forward and turn a 90 degree turn left in the intersection (not realizing it's a traffic signal, not an R/A) and so cause havoc with other drivers and accidents...

And of course what makes things worse is the boulders (plastic and concrete) that are placed everywhere, including in the intersection...

Last but not least, thank god yuksel and ashgal had the decency of placing some signs, but incase of introducing new intersections, PLEASE ADD MORE BIG SIGNS!!!!

But again, as a person living within this construction (alwaab), the intersections are both way better for me than the unreliable r/a's....

I think the problem here is the traffic, the under pass is still not open which is why the traffic at the signal is really bad. the result is people complaining about new traffic signal that didn't fix the problem. I really think they should have added bridges connecting west and east too.

for example, coming from the new Airport through F ring road "in the future" , you will end up at the intersection near Mercedes show room. adding bridge there for left turn and to go straight is really important.

Adding bridges to the current concept would have been the better option, but I, guessing salwa road was their priority (non-stop from leaving ex-ramada hotel signal all the way to Abusamra border)

Here is a question... Would they be able to add bridges to the current format ???? Dubai has been adding new bridges across SZR for years and it seems to work...

And they are going to stop on 2 signals and a roundabout on messemier road anyhow, that alone is an issue...
