Fabs SE Queensland: Albion
Here are some photos of Albion, in Brisbane's inner north. Its proximity to the city makes it quite popular along with its village style shopping centre, dominated by restaurants and cafes running along Sandgate Road. Its more a middle class suburb going by figures from the Australian Bureau of Statstics yet still maintains a working class character, evidenced by the industrial areas along Breakfast Creek and the Albion Park Paceway.

It's a nice suburb, but the shops are looking a little run down at the moment. Hopefully it will pick up when that Flour Mills site project is finally done. Only a couple of stops to town on the train, with a few lines going past to bump up the frequencies.
We've had a couple of work functions at the pub there recently, always good, especially when they are paying for the booze. I can also give the Turkish restaurant a big tick, very nice, and huge portions. |

When I last stayed there in 2008 (I stay in a serviced apartment complex in the suburb) several of the cafes like Stockholm Syndrome and the cake shop were not there. I don't recall the building housing Stockholm Syndrome as not being painted red.

One of my favourite parts of Brisbane.
My mate Mark owns Stockholm Syndrome (with his Swedish boyfriend) Never thought I'd hear myself say this...but I kinda miss Brisbane. |

I've always wondered what the relevance of Stockholm Syndrome's name was, now it makes perfect sense! I need to get out there sometime to check it, and the rest of Albion out, it's one of the areas I just never seem to get to (the cost of living on the south side I guess...)

Great photos, Fabian. Albion is one of my favourite suburban high streets/suburban centres in Brisbane. It's quite different to the others (Wilston, Park Rd, Rosalie, etc.) - more character IMO and older buildings. Also more stone and brick buildings, and less timber. The only thing I don't like is that ugly big TAB building. Stockholm Syndrome looks great!

There is a facebook group that might interest some about Stockholm Syndrome.
