I recently reinstalled the game again. This time I'm working on the downtown/suburbs type cities.
The biggest city in my new regoon of Torian is also the Capitol and is called Torian.

I assume these are all heavily modded? How do you get to be able to just place whatever where ever you want? I haven't messed around with sim city in ages.

Take note that most of these cities are purely "eye candy", they are not actually functioning cities. You can tell this by the lack of traffic. This is because to make a city look really good, you need to place the buildings yourself, called "plopping", as opposed to just zoning. Plopped buildings usually count as landmarks and not towards the RCI of a city.

Largest City 85,000 and still growing.
Largest region 240,000 (I usually only do like 3 cities per region and then I create another region). |

Wow, I finally got one of my cities to 400,000 and some of you have over one million! But how is the land area on some of your cities so big? I see that some of your are using the whole region as your city, but I mean like an extra big tile in the region.

Well, most people are probably using the largest of the 3 city tile sizes for their cities. Some of the regions included with the game don't have such a large tile, though. I think most of the others are playing on custom regions with custom configs that they built using the SCRACC (Sim City Region and Config Creator) tool or by using SC4 Terraformer. I know my current region was designed using SC4 Terraformer.
