The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. Announces First Hotel in Vietnam, with Development of The Ritz-Carlton, Saigon

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C., the leader in luxury hospitality, has announced the brand's first hotel in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), marking another step in the group's expansion in Asia. The Ritz-Carlton, Saigon is owned by the Bitexco Group, one of Vietnam's most prestigious property developers.

The 250-room hotel is located in the historic centre of Saigoni9 adjacent to the famous Ben Thanh Square market, in a 48-storey tower. The Ritz-Carlton, Saigon is part of a dynamic development project called The One Ho Chi Minh City, which also includes prime office space, retail outlets and 350 luxury apartments.

Award-winning US architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia of Arquitectonica Architects, drew inspiration from Vietnam's legendary dragon. He described the towers as a representation of two dragons rising from the ground with their tails coiled and pearls dangling from their mouths. In Vietnamese culture, dragons, especially in pairs, are a powerful life symbols representing prosperity and growth.

"We are honoured to be partnering with The Bitexco Group to manage this exceptional property in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City," said Herve Humler, President and COO – The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. "Ho Chi Minh City is one of the most vibrant and intriguing cities in Asia today and the sophisticated luxury travellers of today will enjoy exploring the best the city has to offer from this prime location when it opens in 2017. This project offers our travellers an exceptional new destination to explore."

ALWAYS THE OPTIMIST

Ummm, the Grand Hyatt Manila, the Fairmont Makati and The Fort Shangri-La are no slouch hotel developments currently in construction in Metro Manila now. Believe me, Metro Manila is definitely in the long term sights for Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, etc. As fast as the metro is growing economically, it's just a matter of time.

although not affiliated with any known international hotel chain , Solaire Manila is definitely an ultra luxurious hotel costing around 1billion US dollars. by the way , I hope the information regarding the planned Ritz Carlton at Resorts World Bayshore is true.

We got the big project for Solaire's Furniture.

Our delivery and installation is set and will start this coming November.

I am excited to see what is the actual interior that time.

For sure, I will send many pictures in this thread.

We are so proud to be part of Solaire.

New Sheraton Hotel to rise in Pasay

By Louella D. Desiderio (The Philippine Star) Updated September 28, 2012 12:00 AM Comments (0)

MANILA, Philippines - Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc. has signed a deal with Resorts World Manila to open a new hotel in Pasay City.

“We signed the letter of intent with Resorts World for a Sheraton Hotel in their project near the airport this morning,” Matthew Fry, Starwood Hotels and Resorts senior vice president for acquisitions and development in Asia Pacific said in an interview yesterday.

Under the deal, Starwood Hotels and Resorts will be the operator of the new hotel, while the other party will be the owner and developer.

The Sheraton Hotel, which will open in two to three years, marks the re-entry of the brand to the country as there used to be a Sheraton Hotel in Manila.

The hotel, which will have 350 rooms, would be constructed in the lot beside the Star Cruises building in Resorts World Manila.

Fry declined to give details on the amount of investment to be made citing that the funds for the construction would come from the developer of the hotel.

Starwood Hotels and Resorts president for Asia Pacific Stephen Ho said in the same event the new hotel would employ a minimum of 350 employees.

“The number would depend on the number that would be needed for food and beverage, for the restaurants,” he said.

Starwood Hotels and Resorts is moving to establish its presence in the country, citing demand from its members for its hotels here.

“For outbound travel to the Philippines, many of our members are asking if we have hotels here. There are many indicators that there is demand for our hotels that is not being met in the market,” Frits Van Paasschen, Starwood Hotels and Resorts president and chief executive officer said.

Given favorable economic fundamentals, the government’s promotion of the country as a tourist destination, as well as increasing travel to and within the country, Van Paasschen said the Philippines is seen to present opportunities for the hotel business.

“The Philippines is the largest market where we don’t have a presence right now and it points to opportunities here,” he said further.

Fry said that even as work for the new Sheraton Hotel has yet to start, the firm is looking to open hotels in other locations such as Manila, Makati, Fort Bonifacio in Taguig and Cebu.

“We are in discussions with other parties both here in Manila and elsewhere in the country,” he said.

“We are not yet ready to communicate these plans... In five to six years, we could have a number of brands present here,” Van Paasschen said.

Starwood Hotels and Resorts’ other hotel brands are St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, W, Westin, Le Méridien, Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft, and Element.

Starwood Hotels and Resorts currently has 1,112 properties in nearly 100 countries and has 154,000 employees.

Resorts World Manila is the first integrated tourist hub in the country. Behind it is Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., a joint venture between Alliance Global Inc. and Genting Hong Kong.

Their very own Berjaya Hotel didn't seem to have made waves in the local hospitality scene since it started here. I guess they needed a better known brand like the Four Seasons to do just that.

As for Radio Shack, I remember there used to be a Radio Shack boutique/store in Ali Mall.

Park Inn Davao opening February 2013

Next February, Carlson Redizor Hotel Group will open one of its mid-range Park Inn hotels in Davao City, the Philippine’s third major gateway and a centre for commerce and trade.

The hotel will be located in the north east of Metro Davao, just 2.5 km from Davao International Airport. It will also be located right next to the SM Lanang Premier Mall, which houses the SMX Davao Convention Center (see here) a soon-to-open 4,745 sqm meeting and exhibition venue.

In addition to this, it will have four small meeting rooms onsite, each measuring 46 sqm with the ability to combine two of them into a larger meeting space. These areas will offer full digital connectivity, while free wifi is standard throughout the hotel.

The hotel will have 204 guest rooms with modern, fresh and bright décor. There will also be a gym and an outdoor swimming pool.

It will feature the Carlson-brand Red Bar and Grill restaurant serving snacks, plates to share, cuts of meat and fish and local Philippine cuisine throughout the day.

Davao City’s economy has been growing rapidly. According to the Davao City Investment and Promotion Center, the number of new businesses established in the city grew 47.6 per cent last year. Many of these are real estate and property projects.

There are also a growing number of IT and telecommunications companies locating in the city, which has several large high-tech industrial parks.

Hotel Intercontinental Manila
Stay, Play and Feast

Stay

We are scheduled to leave for Europe so we booked for a 3 day stay
at the Hotel Intercontinental Manila for our visa application appointment
at the German Embassy located few blocks away.

Source: http://realty.flyphilippines.com.ph/...elintercon.jpg

Opulence and elegance are the best words
to describe the hotel…

Ours was a beautiful family suite in the Club Room,
designed tastefully with utmost comfort in mind…
the room has a Foyer for an entrance,

…a living room area consisting of a Sofa
and cozy lounge chair…

…a huge comfortable bed
that would fit all four of us…

…and a unique pillow menu at the bedside where you can
request the kind of pillow you want according to your needs…

… a walk- in closet.

Just like any standard hotels they offer
connectivity anytime, anywhere and everywhere
There are three phones in the family suite-
one at the living area,

…another at the bedside…

…and in the toilet…

The room offered much more including access to the Club Lounge
for breakfast, afternoon tea and cocktails at night.
and best of all it provided us with a personal butler…

The room is located right in front of Ayala Center

…making shopping a breeze…

Play

The hotel’s gym was not just an ordinary in- house gym.
It was Gold’s Gym that guests can use for free…

They have two huge pools for kids and adults ...

...but I wasn’t impressed with the landscaping…

A hotel this grand- I was expecting a grandiosely designed garden.
InterCon’s landscaping looked a little bit ordinary and conventional…
Although it was beautiful it did not befit the grandeur of the hotel.

There was no one around then as it was raining…
the kids also did not stay long as the water was cold.

Feast
Jeepney Cafe

Despite the accessibility of the upscale mall few steps away,
there is really no need to leave the comfort of the hotel
if you wanted to eat out.

We arrived at noon from our 10 am flight from Naga
just in time for lunch, but the lunch buffet at Jeepney Cafe
was crowded with diners so we decided to check in first…

After unpacking, we decided to have our lunch at 2 PM
just as the crowd at the restaurant had weaned out.

We were greeted by a Spanish Band…

…and serenaded us while eating our meals…

..at the midst of the restaurant’s wide array
of international cuisine at the lunch buffet…

Feast
Club InterContinental Breakfast

How sweet it is to eat breakfast at the Club Lounge
away from the massive breakfast crowd at the Jeepney Café…

It is like the whole place was reserved for us every morning.
with just another hotel guest or two…

Aside from the buffet they are willing to cook
anything that the diner would wish to have…

The lounge had a magnificent view of Makati…

…and offers all the peace and quiet you could have
in the middle of the busiest business district in the Philippines…

Feast
In Room Dining

The choice of In- Room dining was impeccable.
One can even enjoy the fine dining cuisine
at Prince Albert Rotisserie downstairs
right in your own room without having to dress up to the hilt.

But who could resist the temptation of gorging yourself
on a Longaniza platter for dinner…

Vigan, Cebu and Lucban Longanizas- all in one plate…
Who cares eating them for dinner?
These Pinoy breakfast delicacies
are good enough to be eaten anytime of the day.

Coupled with a piping hot bowl of Batangas Bulalo-
…as a true blue Filipino,
there is nothing that we could as more…

It was a simple but satisfying dinner for all of us.

So, it's move over Prince Albert- for now.

Feast
In Room Dining

On our second night, we ordered Grilled Lumot
(which is actually a Grilled Squid),

….Vegetarian Curry.

…assortment of Dinner Rolls.

…and a bowl of tasty Wanton Noodles…

With the Intercon preparing our favorite Filipino meals,
Nothing can go wrong in our in- room dining experience.

Each club room could cost a little as much as Php 7, 500 to 8,500/day
(with the perks of having a Priority Club membership)
Intercontinenetal Manila is much, much cheaper
compared to other hotels of the same category.

Again, this is a ‘sulit” hotel for a family traveler like me.
You get more from what you paid for.

Strange.

Strange rule.

It is probably the first hotel in the world that does not allow eating in the room.
