M1973, if it isn't presumptuous, how is Lucknow and UP going to solve its power problem ? I am originally from UP myself and at times I get very worried about the pace of the provision of amenities such as electricity, water and sanitation. What's going on on that front ?

I will also say, your photographs have been wonderful.

Thanking you in advance.

Where to give my suggestions regarding the riverfront development project?

m_1973, Your previous post was about giving suggestions to the LDA officials regarding the gomti riverfront development project and the Lucknow eye (Inspired from the London eye). Can you please post the link through which we can give our suggestions to the concerned authorities?

my list of suggestions; (already sent to LDA)

1. dedicated kite flying zone
2. Open huts where people can come and play carrom / chess kind of games
3. Chess boards ingrained in the ground for people to play chess / tables with chess board
4. One section of gomti for adventure event (e.g burma loop, crossing river on ropes etc). This LDA can give to few individuals/ companies to organize on daily basis
5. for young kids bicycle learning zone (currently all learn on the roads with heavy vehicle traffic)
6. Roller skate park
7. Skate board park
8. adventure bicycle park
9. Area for bikers club so that all such people move away from roads where bikers risk everyone.

The cost of all above is very less and it wont cost more than few crores.

what else? Its 15km stretch so lot can be done.

Suggestions from me for the Gomti waterfront:
1. Bathroom facilities at regular distances.
2. Clean drinking water at regular distances.
3. Seating benches and dustbins at regular distances along the walking paths
4. Lot more green space (lawn and trees) than concrete
5. Picnic tables in the green space
6. A well maintained Rose garden
7. May be a specialized garden (Japanese or Chinese gardens are very popular in US but may be we can have one with Indian theme). There may be entry fee for this garden but then it needs to be worth it.
8. Fountain area where kids can play (so the fountains should be on a concrete space).
9. No paver blocks on the paths please because they are hard to maintain, get out of place and are unwalkable in no time. We should just have a well paved concrete paths, keep it simple and no weird colors as in Kolkata waterfront area. As long as the workmanship is good, simple shapes and parallel lines all look awesome.
10. All the areas should have proper drainage system so that monsoon does not flood the areas.
11. If there are stairs somewhere, there should also be ramps so that every area is accessible by people with strollers, on wheel-chair and skaters.

m_1973, could you please add this to the list of suggestions?

surrel75:

I would suggest that you independently send mail to LDA. The more the number of mails better are the chances of them getting listed. One person sending many ideas may not have impact. In democracy the number counts :-)

OK, will do.

Here is another idea:
12. Build an aquarium and a fish hatchery. Both can be a great learning place for kids and adults. Hatchery can be used to incubate and re-establish some of the threatened species. Aquarium can have paid entry (essential not only keep it well maintained but also grow it with better technology and more fishes).

Uttar Pradesh's IT Park project delayed

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/c...w/15463780.cms

LUCKNOW: UP government's Information Technology (IT) Park project may be delayed further with the Lucknow Industrial Development Authority's (LIDA) not able to find many takers for it.

Sources said that the deadline for submission of applications for expression of interest (EOI) for development of IT Park on Lucknow-Kanpur road ended on Monday last, the LIDA received applications only from two developers.

Therefore, LIDA decided to extend the deadline by a fortnight to enable more developers to submit their EOI applications. "We have extended the deadline for submission of applications for EOI by 15 days," said chief executive officer, LIDA Sanjay Prasad. A senior officer said the state government and the LIDA authorities would like to have EOI applications from at least three developers to ensure fair competition in the final selection process.

There would be no competition if one of the two applications was rejected on technical grounds, he said. "We will make fresh efforts to get more EOI applications for development of IT park," said the officer. The state government's efforts to set up IT City on Sultanpur Road are also getting delayed due to various roadblocks in the way of transfer of land for the project. "We will need about 100 to 500 acres of land for development of IT City.

A large chunk of land is available with the animal husbandry department. We have requested the department to transfer the land for the project. We hope the department would soon agree for the transfer of land," said an officer of the industry department.

The images are for the development of other side of Lucknow Main Railway station. The main entrance gets chocked during peak movement of trains and all from Lucknow reach station only through main station road.
This development will give alternative to people from south Kanpur, raibarely & sultanpur road etc.

The cost of project is close to 350crores.
