Havaianas Sandals were created in 1962 .At the beginning they were a low-cost product, just rubber flip – flops, but are now a fashion icon, a symbol of freshness and comfort. The Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld won the Shopping category at the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona for this store for brand Havaianas in São Paulo,the first store for this brand in Brazil. The store of São Paulo reflects amazingly the street culture of this megacity, very informal, because it has no front door, no window displays and so it’s an open-air extension of the sidewalk . It connects two sides of the street with an elegant cover, a grid. This cover also has an opening to the brazilian sky letting in rain and light for ventilation and the right irrigation of the plants inside the store, a small Amazonia forest.
