It sems that the era of "shoe boxes" is not over yet. There is a strange tendency: when some really nice projects are propsed, usualy they get appealed and scratched, while some "boxes" (even higher) get approved. Might this be happening due to a strong influence of NIMBY's? As the majority of "boxy" projects are approved, the architects don't even try proposing "something besides the box".

I think the building lobbyists are doing a good job actually. It cant be easy to build a cheaper building than Ullevi Park. I suppose many of the building companies just want to get away as cheap as possible. They will get similar amounts in rents for this kind of office buildings no matter if its high quality architecture or not.

But the politicians shouldnt let them get away with it. Evenemangsstråket doesnt look nice atm and it is hardly good advertisement for gbg.

Question is what will happen the next time a highrise is proposed. It's quite likely that a lot of people, both the general public and well known critics will point to Ullevi Park and say we don't want another one, despite the level of architecture of the proposed building.

Thanks fore the updates. I like all tre proposals, they all seems to have quite god conections to the street, i belive this will contribute to a more lively and urban city on the estetical side I have seen Better, but still ok. Except the basar it looks ingesting.

About ullevi offise arena I have to wait to it is complited befor I give my final judgement. Right now it looks wierd with yellow spots mm but wait to The last layers off the fasad have come in to place. The part that have is quite groovy it changes toonality akording to the angle you are looking (the efekt is suttel so many will miss that) butt i think that is cool, I also like the pixel/Lego look! But the shape off it is boring, sadly it's not unik to this building. In total i agree the building is and will not when it is complited be esteticaly satisfying! It has a massive filing in a bad way I think and hirise haters will probably feel that more than I do.

It's really nice to see the progress of this project, have been out of town for a couple of weeks and is surprised on how much they have completed during that time. Can't wait for the third tower to start rising.

On another project, saw that there were some heave demolition going on at Eken Center in Kållered, anyone know what they are doing?

Many proposed projects to start construction soon, among others Skeppsbron and Opaltorget (with highrise?).

Yes, some time ago. Don't know if it's still in the plans though...

Kvillebäcken

Yesterday i went by kvillebäcken and found out that there was som construction going on just by the large road (hj. brantingsgatan) and that Tornstaden was responsible for it. Since i havent seen any renders or anything i looked there website up to see what it was going to look like. And sadly I found this picture

I also found another render of a building in the middle of kvillebäcken which is also built by tornstaden... Not much better, but at least they are planning to use some glass on this one

Wingårdh won the architectural comptetition at Sannegårdshamnen. The house will be svanenmärkt and be rental apartments.

Still - I think it looks terrible.
