It's true though, today masterpieces like the woolworth building are a rarity. Compared to it, 1 WTC is a glass clad monstrosity.

I suppose that all depends on your definition of topping out. Once those last four pieces of steel are in place (how long could that seriously take? a day?), it will be topped out enough for me.

The official topping-out ceremony will probably be announced shortly before the spiretenna is erected, probably since they want to pitch it as worthy of inclusion into the architectural height.

Yeah, it really depends on the person, since I'm not counting the antenna, I'll say next week, but since they are saying that the building will be 1,776 I guess they will wait for the antenna.

I'm not sure how soon it'll be complete but the sooner thr better! When both towers are complete there should be a ton more life at the world trade center site. I hope this can help attract the much needed tenants for towers 2 and 3

Don't expect to see the mast before Thanksgiving,at the earliest.Some ironworkers down at WiredNY believe it will even be until late December,early 2013.

If you mean the "spire"...it won't start for several months. There is a huge 6' thick base slab with embeds to be done first...the south crane is to be taken apart and demobilized and the north crane will jump up into the "doghouse" at the top of the building and from there climb up for the construction of the spire.

I don't think we'll see a hint of the spire this side of 2013.

What do you mean by remnants? If you mean the tip of the beacon then that is impossible...it's gonna be half a year before the antenna is finished.

I never knew the workers at the site got paid $80 an hour.$120,000 a year,working at the WTC,in my opinion is better than a millionaire working at an office.Lucky guys
