From that render, what I'd assume is the hotel appears to be on the other side of the square, not on the corner opposite the Golden Acre?

Hopefully this'll contribute towards turning the area into a safer environment. I'm liking the looks of what appears to be the redeveloped pedestrian tunnel on the right.

Like it. Very efficient. Generates commercial space and is keeping "green-plaza" /forecourt alive!

So this development will surround the long distance bus terminus with its associated noise pollution and riff - raff ? - how pleasant for them!
Though I s'pose it happens in Europe, its just that this zone seems to be that much noisier and untidy then is the case in some European cities which get away with offices/retail/3 star hotel options well

I was expecting taller myself. That site would be perfect for another tower similar in height to the ABSA building.

i reckon they should totally redevelop that train station block first before even getting on with those other projects...look at that front entrance to the station, its a huge waste of space, the current design will just become problematic in the future when the train station actually becomes a really essential piece of space, which probably will happen...one day in the future.

Are you suggesting that they build on top of Station Square, or am I misunderstanding you?

no i mean maybe redevelop the station, like break down whats there right now, and pull the station closer to adderley st first. But thats probably not gonna happen with these proposals that are comming in.

I actually like the open space, more so now after the redevelopment. There aint many open spaces in the city. They should go taller instead of taking up that space.

Agreed, it should be taller. I don't think it needs to be as tall as e.g the ABSA building, but an addition 5 floors wouldn't hurt.

Definitely should be taller. Not talking Nagoya, but taller. CT Station needs to make a statement as the entrance to the city. Right now, it's one of the most underwhelming terminus stations I've ever used, and with a footprint that large really should be densified with height.
