Of course not... its just that that Inkjet Manufacturing line lang ang mag close but not the entire plant... This is due to the decline of the inkject demand since most the technology shifted. Other manufacturing line will continue to operate.. For the record, Lexmark International had already shed about 30%-40%% of its workforce since 2010 mostly on this inkjet line..

yes they have other lines..... i am not just familiar with the names and they are also into contract manufacturing with clients.
Lexmark is our client so we usually get the heads up for any development.

Only LIPI is actually affected. Lexmark Research will stay since they are doing not just research for Lexmark but as well as do software, firmware and hardware development with other clients abroad....Its shared services ( backroom office such as accounting, finance, hr etc) is also being done here. I've heard Creativo 3 will be another expansion of the company...

ang dot matrix man gud to ang saba kaayu, uso paman gihapon ang inkjet karon for home used lang, gipatay lang jud ang lexmark sa marketing sa HP, CANON, ug EPSON maong usa sa nakapahinay nila.

daghan ang nag gamit ug dot-matrix kasagran mga company for payroll ug mga govt agencies, kay ang ilang mga softwares karaan pa pod kaayu, dili gihapon modagan with usb printers installed..

Lexmark today announced that it will be closing its manufacturing facility at the Mactan Economic Zone (MEZ) II in Lapu-Lapu City which will mean the laying off of 1,700 employees. RL Brandy (second from left), president and CEO of Lexmark Research and Development Corp., explains during a press conference in Cebu City this afternoon the need for Lexmark to take this step in order to be able to compete globally. According to cnet.com, about 600 employees will lose their jobs by the end of 2013 when Lexmark stops inkjet development. By 2015, manufacturing will be terminated at MEZ altogether which will result in the laying off of 1,100 workers. The cnet.com article says Lexmark continues to trail behind HP and Canon in the very competitive inkjet printer market.

ayaw sad e close dayon gud... i think 2015 pa ang total closure... there will still be operations until 2015... tsk tsk...

we do hope na naa pa mahitabo na development during this period of more than 2 years.... LIPI started to slow down starting in 2008 during the global financial crisis, it did struggle to continue its business but the inkjet demand shift which is worsened by the pull out of Canon as their major client for inkjet production... so sad.. :C
