Yeah, we know about Mel "bun" but if
there is a chance to seriously bid in the
name of a 100 year Olympic anniversary
event, and if we are serious, then I can
see the I O C awarding it to us - because
they know they can make money with us!
.
But, yeah, we have no problem celebrating Melbourne.

Your probably right with the 100 year anniversary thing ? After all, 4 years, 8 years or even more is only relative to us mere mortals. Bet LA and Melbourne get the Games again sometime. I was alive but very young for our '56 Olympics and wonder if I will see them here again ? Just as long as the world has a great time together instead of looking for ways to fight with eachother !

Becks tipped to back LA's 2024 Olympic bid

London, Aug 26 (ANI): David Beckham, who helped bring the 2012 Olympics to his home city London, is now wanted by Los Angeles to back their 2024 Games bid.

The footie-star is being lined up again as an Olympics ambassador, if his adopted home of Los Angeles launches a bid for the 2024 Games.

"David helped to boost the popularity of soccer here since joining LA Galaxy and he is known by sports fans all over the world," the Mirror quoted a US Olympic committee source, as saying.

"In London he was constantly being positive and saying the right thing. His face was in newspapers and on TV. That experience is vital.

"And his James Bond cameo went down extremely well on both sides of the Atlantic. He could make the difference between winning and losing," the source added.

The LA Galaxy star, his wife Victoria and their four children, who live in a six-bedroom villa in Beverly Hills, are making the US move permanent and putting their Hertfordshire home on the market for 18 million pounds.

Los Angeles, which hosted in 1932 and 1984, is seen as the likeliest US city to bid in three years' time. The winner will be revealed in 2017.

LA is the likeliest american city to win the next games, so im doubtful that NYC will host before us, but who knows.

That's never a factor at all.

If LA is better prepared and suitable they will give us the Games. The 1932 and 1984 edtions were total success.

I hope 2032 (centennial anniversary) or later. We really need to improve our transit infrastructure first.

Opinion stands. 2032 or later.

I want a nice Downtown and a subway that reaches Santa Monica.
