A Moderator "steals" a photo without permission (and more)
Not all moderators are good people. Some of them are a bad example. I will talk about two of them: Sr.Horn and z0rg.
Recently, I have read that Sr.Horn, stealed a photograph from other forum (and modified it, without permission): http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...postcount=6925 This is where the original author says that he doesn't allowed him to do this: A forum member spots the problem: http://www.tranviaportal.org/modules...=390251#390251 And the original author says that he doesn't allowed him to do it: http://www.tranviaportal.org/modules...=390258#390258 ------------- But... this is not the only bad action done by this moderator. He takes photographs of anonymous people (without permission) and publishes it here: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=658 (Photos were deleted by Tynipic, because I reported them) http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=727 (Photos were deleted by Tynipic) Quote:
Also he ridicules anonymous people here: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=186 You can see some violent protesters, but most of them are pacific people (It's about "education cuts"), but he wrote this: Quote:
Not, in the same page We can read a post from z0rg, were He ridicules an anonymous person: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=188 Quote:
Also He says that She should be at home with husband and sons. Or in a convent. I know, a woman can't think herself, she should be only at home and let her husband to think for her. :S It's only a female protester with a book, not a warrior burning the city or shooting the president. This is a sexist post. How a person with these ideas could be a forum moderator? And of course, It is not a single mistake: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=192 "Godwin" included, of course. --------------------- In Spanish forums there are a big problem about moderators. There are lots of abuses. There are cases of forum members are banned forever for a single mistake (Yes, a simple blame is enough to ban a user for months or years). Other people doesn't have these problems because they have some friendship whit them. I suggest a total renovation of the moderators to clean these problems, because I suppose that these post was reported but no one cleaned them. Some people never have problems with moderators, other is banned forever. Sometimes the best solution is to starting from the scratch. Last edited by Acusica; September 2nd, 2012 at 02:24 PM. |

You know that You was not ironic.
But... a moderator never bans moderator. At least here. And the published photos of anonymous people... I know, if It is done by a moderator, there aren't problem. But If a user has a minimal problem with other user (four months ago), It's banned forever. Even it says that It is sorry. I know, well, just follow, You will get a ten users forum, because most of users are not moderators. Bye. PS: Please, don't publish photos of anonymous people here, in real life there aren't forum moderators and You aren't one. PD2: Placing a photo on Internet doesn't mean that You are allowed to copy it, modify it and publish it without permission of Its author. Remember that in real life there aren't forum moderators. Sr Horn shouldn't be a forum moderator. Quote:

You probably shouldn't have publicly made a complaint over a certain mod but rather PM an admin.
But I will admit, one of the problems with SSC is that some mods think they can say and do anything without getting in trouble and can be real jerks. If someone makes a complaint about a mod and provides evidence with their complaint, the complaint will most likely be ignored or if it's posted publicly, the person making the complaint will be chastised by other mods and even receive a ban. It is also is unfair to the mods who are fair and kind and work hard to make the forum pleasant and entertaining by associating them with these rude mods who seem to think they can do anything and not get in trouble. This is a real complaint, there should be behavioral guidelines for mods to follow too and they should be enforced. This problem can seriously affect the entertainment and pleasantry of this forum. |

I think we are getting crazy about nothing. These were photos of a demonstration in the streets. Of course, you can take this kind photos according to Spanish law, as it is said in the Organic Law 1/1982, Article 8.
And no, this is not the correct way of complaining. If you have a personal problem with a moderator, or some of them, looking for posts that were written 3 years ago is not the solution for your problems. For me, this discussion is finished. |

forum problems
Quote:
Also, You can't blame protesters against education cuts comparing them with Muslims Integrism or calling them "pigs". The solution of problems is not the "permanent ban" (and ban, ban, ban...), not, the solution is talking and excuse if two users have a great argument. I think that having a argument doesn't mean to be a troll. I remember that I called "dumbass, retard" other user. Ok, I know that It is not good. Also, I accept a permanent ban if there are a forum law about it, but I think that Sr Horn was much worse and He is not banned or at least retired from moderators group. PS: remember that Sr Horn took a photo from other forum without permission, he modified it and published it here without a link to the original work or without referencing the original author. Where is the punish for this? Last edited by Acusica4; September 3rd, 2012 at 06:56 PM. |

Sr Horn seems to make a small mistake with taking the picture from someone else, but the one who is really making mistakes here is you. And don't go digging in the past...Anyway I have a moderator too I would like see rather gone just because his views about my country and it's people arent really the nicest and he openly admids that everytime again. But i'm not going to make a thread with all of his posts full off crap about my country inhere because it won't solve anything... Then there is also the fact that at least 50% of the forumers in the subsection he moderates agrees with his opinion. So they will all be in favor of him. What I'm trying to say is, use your brains. SCC has a hierarchy, and as mods are people too, some make abuse of that like musiccity says. What is troublesome though is that these mods stay mods for way too long afther it's clear they aren't able to do their job without misusing it. Personally I think Skybar mods are ok and I like the way Belgian and Dutch mods never put themselves above any other forumer but still do their job without wanting credits; Especially in the African and Eastern European forums their tend to be childish behavior and you can see mods think they are more and better than other forumers...

Sr Horn shouldn't be banned, but... He could be a good moderator before doing that? I think that He should be a user, not a moderator. If You forgive Sr Horn, You should forgive everyone, at least, bans should be limited in time. Quote:
Ok, I understand, my mistake is not being a moderator. That's all. Please, put on the top of the page "forum for moderators only", other people is not welcomed. NOTE: I'm not the only victim, there are more people "banned forever" almost without a reason. That's just the problem: Quote:

These are the forums rules (at least in Spanish forums): - User violates the terms of usage ---> ban (forever, event It was a little mistake) - Moderator violates the terms of usage ---> nothing happens PS: Can You leave me and acount for a week unbaned? I would like to post some PM's to users which quoted my post publishing my photos. These photos should be removed, because I don't give permission to publish them here. I don't want to leave nothing on these forums. I want to remove these photos and links: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=547 http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...postcount=3025 http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...postcount=3042 http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=134 PS2: If I publish photos on other forums, please, don't republish them here. |

While I have no stake or knowledge of this specific situation, it is indeed a problem that there are some trigger-happy mods around there.
It is particularly a problem when they don't like one's pictures/comments/threads in a sub-forum they don't moderate, only to vent their frustrations on their continental forums one choose to participate. And I'm not talking about different sub-forums with different rules. Ditto for, God forbid, one writing one didn't like a mod's banner, UPC entry or else. But that is a minority fortunately.

I think some of us need to realize that a moderator is a human being to. They make mistakes just like any other human being.
These moderators are voluneteering their time to moderate a forum that' probably has a million users and posters every single section. Yes some of them can be jerks, most of them aren't. Some are just given the wrong power. Give em a break and be greatful we don't have a forum that's overrun by trolls thanks to our mods |

I like most of the mods here and I definitely appreciate their hard work. But there are a few mods out there that are too abusive with their power, as Suburbanist and joshsam said.

I've never really had any problems with the mods on here... and I pretty much put in writing everything I think (be it nice, or not so nice). If I have managed to survive 3 years and nearly 10,000 posts, any one can! Should I disagree with one of the mods, I just avoid their section and generally, if you do break the rules, you get an infraction or warning that you've done something wrong - that should be all you really need. If you do it again, you deserve to be gone.
So yeah, I think they do a great job and am thankful.

People here in SSC have the right o complain if moderators are not treating them fairly or if a certain mod makes a mistake.
But should do so in a cordial manner. Those who get banned here express their complaints as more of an attack.

Ban, ban, ban, ban....
I bet that You don't have a reason for this. Yes, I have blamed other user four months ago, but.. other users (and moderators) have other problems and don't get banned. But I will be banned again. I think that some moderators aren't, they are banners, just ban, ban, ban.... PS: Can You leave me unbanned? I need to contact with other users that quoted my messages with photos. At that moment I didn't care about it, but now I don't want to see my photos here. Please, Do You allow me to contact with these users? Just a week. NOTE: I am not a troll, I only want to remove my content quoted by other users. (response: ban) |

You really have no idea how photography and the internet work do you?
First of all, there is nothing wrong with taking photographs with people in it, you do not have to ask everyones permission to photograph a city square. Secondly, for the love of all that is good, send any complaints to the admins in a polite PM. Don't publish things like this on the public forums. |

Goodbye!
It was difficult to remove my photos on this forum. Now, all of them are removed.
Goodbye! In most of countries this is not true. But... I don't care, I will abandon this forum. |
