I'm not in Davao pero sana magkaroon ng township projects diyan kasi tataas ang maket value ng city at makakadagdag pa sa city skyline at tourism. Hope Will Soon.....

Construction of Davao food terminal complex looms
Posted by admin on Sep 5, 2012 in Cities and Towns | 0 comments DAVAO CITY, Sept. 5 (PNA) — Financial constraints, displacement of informal settlers and right of way hamper the construction of a food terminal complex here which has been in the offing for the last 20 years. The long-time planned food terminal complex in a 25-hectare government property in Barangay Toril could not advance because of these three significant impediments,Ferdinand Maranon, Sagrex Foods Corp. president and PhilExport chief executive officer said. Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, Maranon said “PhilExport wants to pursue the project. It will not only benefit the exporters but the small farmers themselves. They would be protected from the perennial problem of over pricing that is being practiced by erring middlemen,” he explained. PhilExport is also interested to build a 10-hectare processing area for exportable products at the NDC property. “We are pushing for this project (bagsakan), but the property cannot be acquired with agreements with the Davao City government,” Maranon said. With the determination of PhilExport to realize the project, it is currently coordinating closely with NDC and DTI. He said that the problem on financial sourcing is among the issues of discussion. The National Development Corporation (NDC), an attached agency of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) owned the site where the proposed complex will be constructed. For Mindanao Business Council (MBC) chair Vicente Lao, the efforts to pursue the food terminal complex project is a “good move and right direction”. “Farmers will not anymore be victims of predatory pricing of middlemen,” he said. “If pushed through, this could be the first Private Public Partnership (PPP) project for Mindanao,” he added. Earlier, Teolulo Pasawa, Davao City Field Office head of the Department of Trade and Industry, said feasibility study for the project is now on the works. He is also looking at implementing the project through the PPP initiative. Pasawa said a large part of the complex would serve as cold storage facilities which will boost not only the export industry but also the lives of the lowly farmers. Who would shoulder the expenditures of the proposed food terminal complex since the Davao City government did not allocate funds for the project was a question which until now has not been resolved. Twenty-four informal settlers will be directly affected by the project and the final problem is the need for the construction of roads.(PNA) GHG/JGQ/LDP/SGP This such a very helpful project to the people of Davao City... UNTA ma-realize jud ni nga project, dugay na jud ni nga plano and I guess its now the best time push this through... Last edited by LI_rot duri-AN; September 10th, 2012 at 03:03 AM. |

As far as the local government and the investor are concerned, ok na dapat to...ang problema is....ang PPA (philippine ports authority) na gusto makisawsaw sa development. thus, pending pa rin ang project na to.
