some earthquakes kasi are dependent on reporting by the locals and the PHIVOLCS response team

one example was the February 1990 earthquake in Bohol where many witnessed the tsunami but none was written on PHIVOLCS records

RUPING's Rage

Some rare photos of Cebu during Super Typhoon Ruping last Nov 1990...

Typhoon Ruping's damage to the infrastructure of the city and province of Cebu forced its local leaders to rethink governmental priorities. A conscious effort to rebuild after the damage was promoted, resulting into the boom of the economy of Cebu, dubbed CEBOOM.

Hundreds flee as heavy rain lashes capital

Quote:

Parts of Metro Manila experienced up to almost 6 feet (1.8 meters) of floodwater on Saturday, September 15 after heavy rain lashed the capital overnight, forcing more than 400 people to flee their homes, officials said.

The predawn downpour triggered flash floods, rendering some roads impassable and forcing schools to suspend classes and rail services to be cancelled in parts of Metro Manila.

Traffic was snarles in many areas, particularly along the Skyway southbound section near Alabang, Muntinlupa City, and the commuter service of the Philippine National Railways was cancelled between 5 am and noon.

There was also a strong typhoon lurking in the region, and although it was moving away from the Philippines and toward Japan, forecasters said it was adding to the wild weather.

"Typhoon (Karen, international codename Sanba) has no direct effect but the storm enhanced the southwestern monsoon so we will continue to experience rains," said government meteorologist Gary de la Cruz.

Global warming stopped 16 years ago, reveals Met Office report quietly released... and here is the chart to prove it

The world stopped getting warmer almost 16 years ago, according to new data released last week.

The figures, which have triggered debate among climate scientists, reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012, there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.

This means that the ‘plateau’ or ‘pause’ in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996. Before that, temperatures had been stable or declining for about 40 years.
