A direct flight doesn't include intermediate stops. It's just from point a to b with no stop in-between. Thus, NBO-DXB-IAD is not direct.

I'd have to read into why the Delta flight wasn't approved. What year was it?

It does!

You are confusing a non-stop flight with a direct flight.

NBO-DXB-IAD is a direct flight as long as there is no change in aircraft at DXB.

Not after but as this new one is being constructed. That looks like an airport to be proud of in design but it will need links to the terminal. So how big will the greenfield be as in in terms of physical space, aircraft parking and stuff like that, # of gates, aircraft bridges, etc

If the architect was a lady i would marry her so she would draw our future just like that...the same person should be given terminal one

Looks like they are going back to the drawing board...

The airports authority has bowed to pressure and gone back to stakeholders for fresh consultations on the design of the Sh55 billion airport terminal.

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) says it will give stakeholders an opportunity to engage with the project’s architects and accommodate their views in the final design before a Chinese firm which bagged the tender starts construction.

The project, to be known as the Greenfield terminal, has been designed by Pascall and Watson Architects, a firm based in the UK which applied for the tender in conjunction with Anhui Construction engineering group (ACEG).

Anhui is in another joint venture with a second Chinese firm, China National Aero-Technology international engineering corporation (CATIC).

Engagement programme

KAA assured stakeholders that it, together with the project’s architects, draw up an engagement programme where stakeholders such as Kenya Airways, Vision 2030 Secretariat, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, Immigration and Customs, will give their input. Other stakeholders it is targeting include the tourism industry, ground handling firms, other airlines, exporters and importers, security agencies and government bodies.

“The JKIA Greenfield Terminal final designs have not been done and once finalised they shall be implemented and delivered in accordance with input from all stakeholders,” KAA managing director Stephen Gichuki said in a press notice on Thursday.

Interestingly Pascall and Watson Architects also designed the terminal 5 at Heathrow airport.

In my opinion KAA should consider having a huge dam/lake somewhere at the airport to collect runoff water. This water in turn can be used to maintain the lawns and keep the greenfield "green". Trust me most modern airports with enough land to spare have such dams. Airports produce a lot of run off water due to the huge surface area of concrete.

Great find City Kanjo im adding this video to my archive its just history in the making..

What i loved about that video is we saw Africans, Whites, and Indians working together to build this airport( even if all three races were separated).. And near at the end of the clip we can see white, african, and indian kids playing with each other, looking at the planes and having a good time.. Makes you wonder how the future of kenya would have been shaped( if there was no Mau Mau).. But ever so it happened and we have the kenya of today a more diversified nation
