The team always seem to under perform against weaker teams. With the strength of our group in the Suzuki Cup, we need to get all three points against the winner of the qualifiers so that there will be less pressure on the games vs. Thailand and Vietnam.

FIFA: Azkals loss to Laos invalid
Karl Decena, InterAKTV · Tuesday, September 11, 2012 · 11:17 pm

The Philippine national men’s football team’s heated match against Laos Monday night turned out to be not an official international friendly match after all, which means that the Azkals’ 2-1 loss would have no effect on their world rankings.

In an email to InterAKTV, FIFA confirmed that it withdrew consideration for the game after learning that the referees who officiated the game were not recognized by the world governing body.

sucks for them.

to sum it up tidily, the uncivilized gook squad should be sent back to boot camp for further re-education on the sport.

Stallion FC means business with new signings and affiliate team

By Bob Guerrero | The Passionate Fan – 17 hours ago

Rufo, De Jong, Doctora, and Joaco. Image Copyright Bob Guerrero.

The invite for the Stallion FC contract signing at the Taipan Restaurant in the PhilamLife building read "Business Attire only." Being a member of the Pinoy Sports press corp, I naturally ignored it. Bad move.

My untucked Polo shirt, jeans and black rubber shoes did not pass muster and I was forced to go home and change into something spiffier.

Penson Stallion FC is similarly all business this coming UFL Cup with the arrival of three new players, Spaniards Joaquin Canas Garcia (Joaco), Rufino Familiar Sanchez (Rufo) and Fil-Dutchman Jason De Jong of the Azkals.

"Wala silang arte" says Stallion coach Ernie Nierras of the team's new members. "Maging sa practice o sa laro, pareho ang intensity."

Nierras leads the team alongside Dr. Pee Eun Hyung from Korea. The highly regarded Dr. Pee was not at the event because he was in Korea.

Pinoy Futbol fans may remember Joaco and Rufo from the Dili Kamo Nag-iisa Sendong relief match earlier in the year. The two Spaniards were in the CF Internacional de Madrid side that walloped the Azkals 3-1.

The Rufo was supposed to start playing for Stallion during last league's transfer window but those plans did not push through because there was a possibility that CFIM would be promoted to a higher division.

I interviewed them with my broken Spanish and Joaco's somewhat passable English. Rufo's English is very limited but I am told he will be taking lessons both in Manila and Iloilo.

Joaco is a 180cm-tall center back who will partner with Nam Yeol Woo in the heart of the Stallion back four. Rufo is a 182 cm high center-forward who plans to disturb the nets with Ruben Doctora, the captain of Stallion, who assumes the second striker role.

"Magaling mag-organize ng depensa si Joaco" says Doctora. Observers in practice have noted that Joaco likes to talk to his teammates non-stop during scrimmages.

Stallion at one point sat atop the UFL league table with shocking 4-1 wins over Loyola Meralco Sparks and Air Force. But they soon lost momentum and were caught and passed by Global, Meralco, and Kaya.

The Barotac Nuevo-based club wishes to put that behind them for the 2012 Cup and 2013 League.

The Spaniards have been training with Stallion in Iloilo. While they don't mind the heat, they admit that they have needed to adjust to the relentless humidity.

In a recent tune-up match with Central Philippine University, Stallion won 1-0.

Joaco and Rufo say they are impressed with defender Pi Yong Jae, midfielder Antonio "Bulldog" Albor Jr, and Doctora. In general they say the Korean players have "mucha disciplina" and that the Pinoys "tienen corazon, le gustan pelear." (have a lot of heart and a fighting spirit.)

They also believe that De Jong plays at a higher level than most of the other Stallions.

De Jong has played professionally in the Netherlands and Indonesia. He was supposed to join a Scottish lower level club but that move fell through. De Jong will likely play in a holding, or defensive midfield role.

With the Azkals since 2009, the Filipino-Dutchman is known for his physical style of play.

Joaco says that their contract with Penson Stallion is one year, but if they like the club and the feeling is reciprocated, then they may continue for another year.

- - -

Stallion also has a brother team now, Sta. Lucia. The Realtors will share the same coaching staff as Stallion but have different ownership.

According to Nierras, the real estate developer wants to build Football fields in its many Golf course developments around the Metro Manila area to help spur the growth of the sport.

Sta. Lucia will feature many of the reserve Stallions on its roster like Matthew Nierras, Nathan Alquiroz, and Enzo Pinga. Barotacnons Tommy Escoltero, Jimmy Vergara will contribute as will African defender Abdoulaye Toumbia.

I was told that the club will be captained by Francis "Ansing" Gustilo, the highly gifted Stallion midfielder who struggled last season with injuries and saw limited playing time.

According to Stallion officials Gustilo will wear the armband for the Realtors in the UFL Cup, then will rejoin the Stallion for the UFL League next year.

However, Gustilo is not on the team photo album on their Facebook page so his participation has yet to be confirmed.

Matinee idol Derek Ramsay is on the squad as well as Brazilian model Fabio Ide. The club's Facebook page also reports that Philippine Volcano Andrew Wolff may sign.

The head coach of Sta. Lucia will be Selu Lozano, the ex-Kaya midfielder/defender player who played for Stallion last season.

Sta. Lucia faces Union Internacional Manila on Saturday in the preliminary round of the 2012 UFL Cup. Union, being a Division 2 team, enjoys a twice-to-beat advantage. If the Mustangs win twice, they join the main draw for the Cup which will be held on September 25.

The club will join the UFL Division Two in next year's league.

Should Sta. Lucia gain promotion to the top tier of the UFL, the coaching staffs will become wholly separate.

Like Stallion, the Realtors will also be bolstered by Korean players from Central Philippine University in Iloilo.

Asean Football Teams Get Ready for Next Month's Cup
Quote:
...The team that appears to be going into the AFF Cup with the best preparation are the Philippines. They reached the semifinals last time round and were forced to play the 'home' leg of their semifinal away from home because they lacked any suitable facilities themselves.

They have been preparing in earnest and their 2-0 win in Singapore last week was their 11th friendly of the year with just one defeat in that run. And there is more to come with games lined up against Macau, Chinese Taipei, Bahrain, Kuwait and a return leg against Singapore before the cup begins.

The Philippines are showing spirit and adventure beyond their Asean rivals by choosing opponents beyond their own backyard, but it remains to be seen whether it will pay off or not.

The Azkals, as they are known, will either be the best prepared team this year or the most tired.

FIFA also nullifies Azkals’ scoreless draw vs Cambodia
Quote:

After nullifying Philippine national men’s football team’s loss against Laos, world governing body FIFA has stripped another Azkals match recognition as an official international friendly.

FIFA confirmed in an email to InterAKTV that it withdrew consideration of the Azkals’ nil-nil draw against Cambodia in Phnom Penh last September 5 because referees allowed more than six substitutes for the Cambodians during the game.

According to FIFA’s Laws of the Game, official international matches featuring national teams only allow up to a maximum of six substitutions per squad.

However, more than six replacements are permitted in non-official FIFA friendly matches, as long as both sides agree on the limit of subs with the consent of the referees prior to the game.

Azkals coach Hans Weiss only used six subs in the match against Cambodia, namely Denis Wolf, Jason de Jong, Patrick Reichelt, Misagh Bahadoran, Anto Gonzales and OJ Porteria.

The Azkals’ 2-1 loss to Laos last September 10 was earlier nullified after it was discovered that not all referees for the game were sanctioned by FIFA. The match turned ugly in the second half after players from both squads engaged in a scuffle.

With the decision, only one match in the Azkals’ Southeast Asian tour — a 2-0 victory against Singapore last September 7 — will have effect on the Philippines’ world ranking, which currently sits at 150th.

The matches are part of the Azkals’ for the upcoming 2012 ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup, where they look to surpass their historic semifinal run in the same tournament two years ago.

If it would be my call, I would rather do friendly's with Japan, South Korea and China once in a while. We might loss a couple but we will gain more.

to hell with rankings if we lose, its football.

yep I agree

GUYS THE YOUNGHUSBAND'S WILL NOT BE IN THE UPCOMING GAMES (PEACE CUP) These month.

I just spoke to to an Insider in ......you guys will actually hear news and announcement saying from media They have club commitments.........Both Play for Loyola Meralco Sparks....(this is not the reason though )........but rather it was a consequences of the Brothers not attending the recent U.S. Training Camp.
----------------
If you noticed some of the lesser players in UFL are gonna be in the Azkals squad line up regardless of Club Commitments..nothing to worry though..they will both Play in The Suzuki Cup..do all is still good..
I dont care much for Peace cup as it not really ours..Its The Long Teng cup renamed ..still its good for Buildup.. Hong Kong is actually not happy about this and They Threaten not to come...but well see..

Ian Araneta And Dennis Wolf are expected to be our main Strikers and Infact Starters..Expect Ian to start.
----------------
Anyway lets just wait and see....

Goodluck to the Team

From : Interaksyon The Brothers were not informed face to face but Via Txt Message
------------------------------------------
THE SMS of Coach Weiss
=========================
"“James sorry for not being able to talk to you personally… so I have to inform you per text that Phil and you are not included in the list for the Peace Cup… anything else after remains to be seen… take care and all the best! MW” wrote Weiss in a text message to James."
======================
"The Brothers"
“We remain 100 percent committed to the national team. We do not know what transpired, as we have been in constant talks with Coach Weiss. But we respect whatever decision management has. We will be available for whatever call up,” they said, before hinting displeasure over how they were informed via text message about the decision.

Peace Cup is like jones Cup..

its a good test and will make our new guys busy, train like an azkal while gaining the experience of playing international football.

besides it will be a good PR for Philippine football to common fans and from our neighbors
to see how we play football in this part of the world.

the benefits are there..

My opinion only

A good game over all

Philippines 1 - 0 Guam

We created more Chances better passing but what was very obvious was like clinical finishing. Ian Araneta is in a scoring drought for the national team for over a year now ( or more). Hes not in the same level as PYH he held on the ball to long..to be fair to him he does still have the killer instinct and he worked hard.

Overall I'm happy as our bench are getting deeper. (which i think is the point of this tournament...

Against Guam, Macau, And Chinese Taipei...this squad is ok....
------
But come Suzuki cup or against Bahrain and Kuwait in the upccoming matches October...no way!!...well need the the Youngusbands, Guirados bros and The like of Mulders or Schrock....those teams are 10x or more stronger than the teams in peace cup....

and Im not exaggerating...its a fact!.

Sacapano is very impressive today and newcomer Omphroy for me was the most impressive player.
