Anyway, Iskandar is so important for Malaysia to boost up her competitiveness.

Iskandar Malaysia & trx catalysts to elevate Malaysia to new level

The rapid infrastructure development in Iskandar Malaysia and the newly launched Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) will serve as catalysts to elevate Malaysia to a new level to face greater competition in the Asean region, Malaysia Property Incorporated chief executive officer Kumar Tharmalingam said yesterday.

He said the massive development in the Iskandar region, located at the edge of Johor, the gateway to Singapore, has surprised many developing and developed economies, and has resulted in many multinationals coming to establish their operations at the economic corridor.

“Even the Singapore government is providing incentives for companies to relocate their plants to Iskandar and to save landbanks on the island.

This would take place in the next three years.

“This is proven with foreign investments in Iskandar shooting up to 24 per cent from eight per cent.

Investments are mainly coming from Singapore,” he told a roundtable forum here.

Kumar said the TRX was also expected to boost Malaysia’s presence in the global financial map and establish the country as a financial hub in the Asian region on par with Singapore and Hong Kong.

He said Malaysia was slowly becoming a logistics hub for multinational companies as it was located at the right spot for companies to utilise the country as a base to cater to the Asean region.

“For instance, european companies are now looking at the Asean region as they no longer want to deal with Europe, China or India.

“When it comes to Asean, the two countries that will attract investments are definitely Malaysia and Indonesia,” he said.

Besides Iskandar and TRX, Kumar said Malaysia was very unique as every state in the country grew in its own decent manner, and that in total it reflects the above expectation economic growth for Malaysia.

If we don’t talk about Greater KL or Johor, we still have Penang, which is attracting a lot of investments, Sabah, Melaka, Perak and Sarawak,” he said.(Greater KL and Iskandar is the main priority, but don't worry Penang is the first choice among the less priority)

On the upcoming Budget 2013, Kumar said he was looking forward for a very positive budget with a lot of goodies to the ordinary people.

“Goodies are very important to ease Malaysians’ burden with affordability becoming more expensive day by day.

“The goodies will be temporary measures to handle the affordability issue while the government introduces productive and prudent policies to address the rising cost of living,” he added. — Bernama

a lot of anger I feel... turn over to the dark side you must not, Penang people.

look, no need to argue with those who like to argue for the sake of arguing. no one comes ahead. they would pull all sorts of stats, news reports, and fancy calculations to deflect themselves from the real topic once they are in the crosshairs.

Penang will always be unique and special. there's no need to be 2nd or even have a number attached to it.

let JB have it! yeah! 2nd place! wow! always an also-ran! always under the shadow of our lovely neighbor! always mediocre at best. always 2nd! woo-hoo!

JB people, go celebrate your 2nd position and let's get back to being nice to one another after the fiesta! happy now?

Both are unique in their own way

Metro Penang is more centralized with better functioning city centre ( Georgetown ) , higher concentration of high-rise residences , better public bus transport.

Metro JB is more spread-out , more spacious "suburbia" lifestyle than anywhere in Penang ( including what i saw in Penang Mainland ) , more car-oriented

In terms of importance Metro Penang is above Metro JB it seems, but with recent massive new developments in & around JB ( Iskandar ) the landscape could change in near future

Hopefully both Penang and JB will become global cities in near future and complement Klang Valley well.

no intention to add oil into this controversial discussion but for me Penang and JB both have their own advantages.....

in term of Skyline, no doubt Penang is ahead of JB because of limitation of land in island mainly so the need of housing to be built toward the sky....

in term of economy, i think JB will left Penang far behind after the completion of WPI and its surounding area.......

in term of suburban developement, maybe for the time being Penang is still slightly ahead with it Jelutong, Bukit Jambul, Bayan Lepas/Baru, Gelugor....but JB with it Skudai, Kulai, and other suburb are not far left behind i think....

so overall for me maybe for the time being Penang had leading the race but not for so long......

why don't you guys just think this way?

for penang fanboys - "screw JB. say whatever you want. we are number 2 in malaysia!" (or maybe number 1 in malaysia. or even the wourlddd)

for JB fanboys - "screw penang. say whatever you want. we are number 2 in malaysia!" (or maybe number 1 in malaysia. or even the wourlddd)

it's easier that way rite? instead of arguing for only god knows how long.

end of story. i'm happy. you're happy. everybody's happy.

This thread was created as there seemed to be no "official" second largest city in Malaysia.

If you guys still do not know, city vs city threads are banned in SSC due to such behaviour of forumers clearly shown above. This thread was created back in those days when that ruling wasn't made yet and somehow survived the mass "deleting" of such threads when the decision to ban them were made.

We moderators have allowed this thread to go on but now that this has turned to city bashing, racist and out of topic thread. I decide to temporarily close this thread. Or I wonder if we should ever open it again.

Locking this thread would not stop all these blickering. Actually I wanted to see how far the mud-slinging would go. Malaysians are not an easy bunch online and we are on the watchlist of many renowed web services. I just hope that we would still be the best bunch in SSC (like in the past).

Go on with those 'healthy' debates.......remember to follow the thread title!
I know we wish to see this thread go on with healthy debates but things just keep getting out of control after our warnings. You may reopen this thread whenever you think the time is right. or just Yang it if you think necessary
