every year it should double to keep up, simply because the base is too low compared to Pune. it will be a disappointment if it is less than 3k crore.

I hope that Tidel-CBE will be 100% full by end of this year.
http://www.deccanchronicle.com/chann...-ii-cities-498 State to cut rentals of IT parks in Tier-II cities The state government is contemplating a slash in rental rates of IT parks across the state with a view to attract more clients. Barring Chennai, IT parks situated across the state have dismal occupancy following their high rentals and lack of social infrastructure. Of the eight IT parks promoted by Elcot across the state, the Tiruchy IT park has got only 30 per cent of occupancy till date while the Coimbatore IT park commissioned three years ago, has only 60 per cent occupancy. Two parks in Madurai and one in Tirunelveli are yet to find a client while Hosur, Vellore and Salem are still under construction. Recession apart, the key reason for vacancy, say officials, is high rental rates compared to private IT parks located near-by. While Coimbatore park commands anywhere between Rs 23 andRs 40 per square feet depending on the client and the lease area, the one in Tiruchy is offered for Rs 28 per square feet. “Private IT parks offer the same area at 15 –20 per cent discount,” they say. Also, acute power shortage in the recent months has escalated overall operating costs of companies in IT parks. Though 24/7 power is maintained with the help of diesel generators, this component is again passed on to companies as a part of the maintenance component. “With this cost escalation, companies are not getting any cost advantage, the original idea that impelled them to set up units at tier-II cities,” lament officials. To look into all these issues, a government panel including officials of Elcot, finance and IT departments, has been formed to rework the rentals of IT parks so as to attract more clients. The panel is expected to meet next week and some downward revision of rentals may be announced by end of October. Even private IT parks are now facing the heat with huge vacancies and hence have made a representation to the government to allow them to let out the space for non-IT clients. |

Old News. But have some figures.
http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper...cle2914788.ece Software exports from Coimbatore to go up SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT Software exports from Coimbatore is on the rise, and this year, it is expected to be nearly Rs. 1,500 crore. According to Ashok Bakthavathsalam, Vice-Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Coimbatore Zone, the Special Economic Zone of Coimbatore Hi-Tech Infrastructure Private Limited here was expected to generate about Rs. 1,000 crore exports in 2012 as against nearly Rs. 800 crore last year. With exports from units in other IT parks, the total software exports from here was expected to be Rs. 1,500 crore this year. Coimbatore was growing as an IT destination. More IT units had started operations here during the last one year, he added. The CII would organise the 12{+t}{+h}edition of Connect Coimbatore, an Information Technology (IT) event, here on February 24. The event aimed at encouraging larger number of small and medium-scale businesses to adopt Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and to motivate new entrepreneurs to tap the potential in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) segment. Sessions would be held on ERP for SMBs, Emerging Opportunities, Latest Trends in IT for SMBs and Information Security. An exhibition would be organised with about 25 participants. Survey According to a survey, about 40 per cent of the SMBs here had not even ventured into ERP. Assurance on return on investment and awareness would encourage the industries here to go in for more ICT tools. This was the right time for the industries to adopt these tools, he said. A report on the challenges facing the ICT sector and measures needed to give a boost to it in Coimbatore would also be released at the event.
