Studying in Budapest
Hello guys, im speaking from the other side of the world, Venezuela! First I must say that I love Hungary very much, its culture, the people, the food. And Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities ive seen (in pictures)!
Ive never been to Budapest. My mom went there like 4 years ago. Sadly she got mugged on the train and that kinda ruined her mood for the whole visit . Anyways that's besides the point. Im currently very interested in studying in the Budapest Bussines School to get a degree in Tourism. Tourism has always been my passion. Im currently writing articles for a touristic company but after thinking it throughly ive decided to explore new horizons. Now that im done with my intro, Ive a few things I'd like to know before planning to go study in Budapest!. First is the cost of living. Im planning to rent a small flat for myself, with internet and all the basic services. How much money is it gonna cost me per month? And how fast is the internet? My current job earns me about 250-300$ monthly. I work on the internet so I could continue working as soon as I get there. I got the tuition covered already. Second thing is the language. I dont know any word in hungarian. I speak spanish and english fluently. Would I be able to at least communicate basic stuff with people on the street and on the supermarkets and such? Third, how are latin american immigrants treated there? Is there any discrimination going on? I doubt I could pass as a local, I kinda look like Lionel Messi. Best regards from Venezuela! |

If you look like Messi you'll be fine
![]() Flat is from $250/month + bills (could be up to $150 in winter, $100 or less in summer). From $350-400 you can find very nice small apartments in the city center. Internet is fast enough, and cheap. I used to pay there $17/month for 3mbits. |

Depending on rent and bills, you could live alone from 120000 HUF probably (alone). Thats about 550 USD.
