Buffalo: Pics from around the North Side (July 2012)
Hey guys, I visited Buffalo, New York one weekend in mid-July to attend the Italian Heritage Festival (Saturday), and tour the Central Terminal the next day (Sunday). I took a detour through parts of north Buffalo and took some pictures along the way, including North Pearl Street, Olmstead Park, the old Buffalo State Hospital and various parts of Lincoln Parkway.
Here we go with the tour... Started off on historic North Pearl Street... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In Allentown's main commercial area... on Allen Street ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Apartment building on Delaware Avenue... ![]() Mansion on Delaware Avenue... ![]() Best Western Inn on the Avenue, the hotel I stayed at... ![]() ![]() Buffalo on the pavement in front of the hotel... ![]() Another empire marvel on Delaware Avenue... ![]() Albright-Knox Art Gallery ![]() The newly-completed Penney Art Center ![]() Former Buffalo State Hospital (Insane Asylum), now the Richardson Complex, designed by renowned architect Henry Hobson Richardson, built in 1870, Romanesque Architecture... ![]() This building sits in good shape, but is vacant, but a project is underway to restore it and has been given grants by the State of New York. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() West side of the building ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Front of the building, again ![]() The Buffalo Psychiatric Hospital is a U.S. National Historic Landmark, was given this distinction in 1986... ![]() Front Entrance... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Back side of the building... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rockwell Hall @ Buffalo State College... another lookalike to Philly's Independence Hall ![]() ![]() ![]() Buffalo and Erie County Historical Museum, this building was constructed for the Panam Exposition in 1901... we also saw this in my 2011 World Junior tournament photos a while ago and I visited here then... ![]() Homes on Nottingham Terrace... ![]() ![]() Various homes on Lincoln Parkway in the Park Meadow Neighborhood, this area was used as part of the 1901 Panam exposition... ![]() Homes in and around Lincoln Parkway ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Homes on Bedford Avenue... ![]() ![]() Hope you enjoyed it, coming soon, Buffalo Little Italy and Italian Festival pics and Buffalo Central Terminal pictures!
