This needs updating.
1) Finishing off of BBC-side of MediaCity. Fitting out of retail units/restaurants etc. 2) Beginning of ITV-side of MediaCity, should start construction any day now! 3) Finishing off of Co-op Headquarters, and; 4) Starting of consultations involving which companies will build the NOMA/Angel Meadows masterplan, and 4a) Indigo Hotel/City Buildings 5) Eastlands Masterplan, still not heard much on this apart from the sports fields, which I guess will enter consultation stages soon? 6) Metrolink Second City Crossing 7) Finishing off of New Wakefield Street-33 floors. 8) Chapel Street - finishing off of roadworks and information on new developments incl.. 9) Conversion of building on Trinity Street into a hotel, 10) Peel Park & Frederick Road Salford University Developments. 11) Improvement works to Salford Crescent Railway Station 12) First Street 13) Ordsall Curve; Northern Hub. 14) Manchester Victoria Station; funding given(?), toilets currently being refurbished as part of Phase 1. Ticket Barriers expected by the end of the year. 15) Holiday Inn Northern Quarter is now complete. 16) Chethams School of Music Expansion - finishing off. 17) Airport City & Enterprise Zone 18) Greengate - bridge almost complete, new plaza still under construction and consulation has begun on one of the two buildings scheduled to overlook the scheme. 19) BMX Arena is now complete. 20) New bridge linking Velopark station with Velodrome is also complete. 21) Manchester University Developments 22) Transport Interchange improvements in Altrincham, Bolton and Rochdale. 23) Travelodge at Boddingtons site now complete. 24) Soapworks; exterior nearing completion but no details as yet as to which restaurants/cafes/shops will be moving in. 25) Electrification of Victoria to Liverpool line appears to be in full swing now, bridges in Eccles have already been reinforced and have reopened, meaning the more detailed works are ready to begin. 25a) We also have the electrification of the Victoria to Blackpool via Preston & Bolton line to look forward to, although I don't think any physical work has started on that yet. 26) Northern Hub; rumours that the line to Leeds could also be electrified. 26a) Usage of derelict platforms at Salford Central station for the Victoria to Liverpool stopper service. 27) Ordsall Park & Radclyffe Park development, new Morrisons etc. 28) Primark refurbishment, I'm looking forward to this. It'll improve the area so much. 29) Bridge over Corporation St is now complete and has reopened. 30) Conversion of the Triangle into a Covent-Garden style affair. Re-renamed "The Corn Exchange". 31) The Oast House at Spinningfields. 32) Avenue North at Spinningfields. 33) Gateway House reclad, Piccadilly. 34) Manchester House reclad, Spinningfields. 35) Holiday Inn behind Piccadilly Station. 36) Urbis opening as the National Football Museum. 37) Improvements to Deansgate station. 38) DfT Improvements to various stations across Greater Manchester, including possibility of a new station at White City. 39) Halle Orchestra relocating to St Peter's Church, Ancoats. 40) St Peter's Square refurb. 40a) Elizabeth House demolition/building of new office block on site. 40b) Relocation of the cenotaph to the Peace Gardens 40c) Refurbishment of Central Library. 40d) Relocation of current Metrolink platforms at St Peter's Square and addition of a new island platform for Second City Crossing. 41) Metrolink; Chorlton line now open and doing well. 42) Metrolink; Central Park & Velopark lines due to open in New Year, depending on TMS issues. 43) Metrolink; closure of Moseley Street stop/station. 44) Metrolink; Completion of Central Park, Velopark & Oldham and Rochdale lines due in the next year. 45) Metrolink; Pending decisions about whether or not to build the Trafford Centre/Port Salford/Wythenshawe Loopline or Stockport lines. 46) Metrolink; TfGM have decided to replace all the T68s with more M5000s. 47) Metrolink; TMS already rolled out from Trafford Bar to St Werbeugh's Road and Pomona to Eccles, but still has to be rolled out across the rest of the network. 48) Metrolink; Bury Line is currently being upgraded to the new Metrolink branding. 49) Metrolink; Abraham Moss station open, Woodlands Road soon to close. 50) Metrolink; Consultations about new Queens station due to start soon. |

This month (starting Wednesday), these are the developments we can expect to see happening in Manchester;
February 2012 - Virgin Money will open on King St - Chethams' School of Music; construction will complete however the building won't open until April - On the 14th, Jamie's Italian Restaurant will open in the old HSBC "island" building on/near King St. - Work will start on the recladding of the tower blocks in Islington, Salford (the two tower blocks which can be seen from Chapel St as you enter the city centre) - From the 24th February until the 4th March, they'll be a Manchester History Festival in the Town Hall. See the M'cr Construction Timeline in the Exchange Square subforum for the development timeline for the rest of the year. Have a happy February!

To tie in with my Construction Timeline, I've done another map of all the developments in (central) Manchester at the minute; approved, U/C and proposed. This is the Manchester Development update for June 2013. I want to start doing these every 3/4 months or so. The last update was by myself in March 2013.
The ↑UP, ↓DOWN and ↑NEW indicators are based on the time between the last update in March 2013 and this update in June, and are referring to the various stages of the development process; 1) Completed, 2) U/C, 3) Projects Likely to start soon, 4) Projects unlikely to start soon, and, 5) Dead projects. This process is a system. You may also notice from the below timeline that I have not only ordered projects into U/C, Complete, Starting soon etc - but I've also took the time to put the projects which, say, are most likely to start construction soon at the top. For instance; Motel One on Piccadilly. This has not started construction yet but the demolition process and site clearance is ongoing. This means that Motel One has found itself high up the list of "Projects Likely to Start Very Soon"; because once demolition has complete the building will commence. Completed Projects - Projects which have completed since March 2013 (not much doing here!) - The list of 'stuff' below will drop off the list next time I update it because it is no longer active in terms of construction/development. - ↑UP East Didsbury Metrolink Extension - ↑UP Sillavan Way Salford | 6 floors | Apartments Projects Currently Under Construction - Projects currently actively under construction; by way of cranes and actual erection of building; NOT by drilling or clearing of site (this does not equate to 'construction'.) - Projects near the top are ones which I expect to finish and complete soon.
