Mr. Hans Sy said two more would be constructed next year and finished in two years, in a phase that would approximate the SM foray in China, which has four malls, like in Mindanao. One would be constructed in Butuan City, which would be like the other supermalls, with an area of 90,000 square meters, and the other in Cagayan de Oro City, which would be a multilevel building to compensate for the smaller area of only 1.7 hectares.

SM Aura in Taguig commenced construction a few months ago FYI. It will open next year Q4 or early 2013, ahead of SM City Butuan and SM City Lapasan.

SM City Butuan and SM City Lapasan will definitely start in Q1 or Q2 next year.

Like I said a while ago, SM Aura (Taguig) is already under construction. The construction of a mall in Luzon will not delay nor affect the construction of proposed malls in the South. he said that at this last quarter of the year....I believed, SMPH has laready set a budgetary allocation as early as this late quarter of 2012 that are for implementation for the next year

whereas Robinsons is the only thing that is substantial at this very point in time.

I think 2008...I think you know the answer.....remember that they initially bought in segments starting with the property at the uraya side....then the second parcel was the one bought from the Calo heirs near 2Go building (bought 2010).....then the last and hotly contested segment is the one bought from First Consolidated Bank....which the former owner (Engr Pascual) previously contested...

Robinsons is just a visionary firm. Like most of the investors, it bought a lot at the time that Butuan's retail market was not yet ripe. When I say ripe, there are plenty of residents, who belong to middle class and upper class/elite class. However they saw the city's potential that after 5 or 6 years, the city's retail market would be ready for their full service mall. Rob's target market, of course, is different from Gaisano. Just like SM did to our city. It bought an uptown property way back 1997. The construction of their mall only began on early 2000 and opened its door to the shoppers on November 2002.

But nothing really beats Ayala when it comes to vision IMO. Their plan is long term. They love to buy hundreds of hectares of land in a city or province that has even retarded growth and development.

Robinsons supposed to construct their mall in their acquired lot on Gensan that year 2000.. but you know.. year 2000-2007 in Gensan was bombing everywhere. Those were but dark age of Gensan.. Investments halted. So mga 9 years din na.delay yung construction nila because of that bombing shit.. But that was before.. Butuan's situation is in for investor's favor. SM and Robs.
