Yes, This is the one. Thanks varunshiv. It looks same as the one supplied under JNNURM to Kolkatta and Chennai/Comibatore/Madurai. Not sure why TM calls this new model in its press release!

Does it mean CNG Tank is underneath of these buses? Since these are not Low Floor, probably TM do not need to put the tank on Top.

Yes the "lane discipline" of bus drivers is atrocious in Delhi. Like you pointed out, the way they board/de-board passengers; approach, stop at and leave bus stops; overtake each other and change lanes etc etc is all wrong. Delhi's aggressive driving style is in complete display with these guys. It makes a big difference to the public transport experience, and the overall condition of traffic as well.

Satellite imagery of world's largest bus depot - DTC's Millennium depot. It has a capacity of 1,000 buses.

Red ones are AC low floor buses and green ones are non-AC low floor buses.

Chennai used to have the Asia's largest bus stand....looks like this is 4 times that size. Is this temporary (or) they have made it permanent.

Surprised that this is allowed so close to yamuna river.

It was supposed to be temporary but think it is more or less permanent now. Chennai still has the largest bus stand , dont know about other cities but Miyapur ICBT (Hyderabad) soon to start construction will be larger than Koyambedu

DELHI GOVT TO PROCURE 1,725 LOW-FLOOR BUSES

The Delhi government will soon float a global tender for the procurement of 1,725 low-floor buses for the Delhi Transport Corporation.Top officials in the Transport department said the global tender for procuring the buses will be issued shortly as all the specifications for the vehicles have been finalised.

Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami said the first batch of the buses is likely to hit Delhi roads by September. The new fleet, which will cost around R400 crore, is being procured to further augment the public transport system in the national capital.

The new buses are being procured to replace the DTC's old buses which have completed their prescribed mileage of five lakh kilometres. Currently, the DTC is running 1,742 old buses. The proposal to buy the buses has already been cleared by the Delhi Cabinet. "We will soon float the global tender to procure the buses," an official said. The addition of the new fleet will take the number of low-floor DTC buses to 5,506 from the current 3,781.

The official said supplier of the vehicles will have to carry out their maintenance for 7.50 lakh kilometres run or 12 years' operations, whichever is later. The government plans to increase the number of buses under the DTC to 11,000, including buses under the cluster service, within the next couple of years. Currently, around 340 buses are plying under the cluster service run by private entities.
