Somewhere around Erzgebirge DDR/GDR in 1987

This was 25 years ago, but I remember that we visited various DDR -cities like

Berlin, Karl-Marx Stadt, Erfurt, Dresden and maybe Leipzig.

100% sure this was a place somewhere in the GDR south of Berlin. More than that I'm not sure about.

I think this photo was taken at a small square surrounded by some old city wall, I think it was on a hill.( or it wasn't )

So hard to remember because we went to so many cities for a short period of time.

Yes because I had mapped it to Dresden when I received a comment from a local Dresden-resident telling me it's definately not central Dresden.
